Hey ladies,

So we leave bright and early Saturday for Playa del Carmen! smile159.gif

Sunday is my birthday so we want to go into town (probably Sat night) and go out to eat. Any suggestions for a great/fun restaurant??

Oh, also we'd love to do an excursion while we're down there. I think PVBride mentioned something about a Mayan tour that was very memorable and worth it! I will try and find what that one is called but if you guys can recall it or have another one that was your fav please add it to the list!

Thanks!

NegroSol has really great food, not huge portions but I was blown away by the flavors. Its on calle 14 bis between 1st and 5th Avenue.

Ajua is a fun time. I like their pollo pibil, a local dish. They have live music and waiters that balance glasses on their head. It's on calle 4 between 5th and 10th.

Rolandis is a really good value. Not overpriced, good portions, good food. It's at the south end of 5th in Paseo del Carmen.

For excursions I would go to Altournative and see what they offer. They have stands all over fifth. They have a solid reputation and interesting activities.

It was pretty intense(I am terrified of heights!) but I'm really glad that we did it. If it seems like too much, there are tons of other tour options to choose from.

I emailed you our pictures, just in case you change your mind :)

Congratulations!!!

I love food and I am in the Food & Beverage and wedding business since a long time ago so i can suggest the following:

There is a casual, romantic and very good italian restaurant: "Pommarola" which is located in a steet besides the "Shangri-la" Hotel. The Pasta, european pizza and $$ are great!

"Babe's" is a noodle-asian restaurant that is next to the 5th. Avenue (Playa's main street) just in front of the "Basico" Hotel and "Starbucks Cafè". I suggest not to eat in Babe's on your first days because it could be a bit heavy for your stomachs!! but definetely this is a good restaurant. Try the "Mojito's" and "Caipirhinas" but not too many!!

For a typical mexican breakfast try "La Cueva del Chango" which is next to the "Shangrila-Hotel" and also "The coffee press" on the calle 2 near the ocean. For a light lunch you can have a good sandwich in "Hot's" located in calle corazon. All of them are cheap and good!

For a fancy one the best is an italian restaurant inside of the Mayan Palace resort called "Tramonto". At the main gate you just have to tell them that you are going to have dinner there. It is a litlle expensive but it is the best!!

Good Luck, Happy Birthday and have fun!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
