Destination Weddings are supposed to be a bit more stress free, right?

Hi everyone! I have enjoyed reading so many of these posts and figure now is the best time to jump in. My fiance and I have been engaged for over a year now... and after a year of going back and forth of where to get married and how much we should spend (while still being responsible) we've decided that an island wedding would be the way to go. It sounded so easy but I have been looking at places for over 3 months now and still haven't been able to make a decision. First I was looking into Jamaica but am currently focusing on the Riviera Maya area. We are planning on 50-60 ppl and would prefer an all-inclusive option so our guests know what to expect.

Any thoughts would be soooo appreciated! And I apologize for my initial ranting! :)

No worries, I'm sure many of us can relate - I know I can :-) You will find a numer of great options on here. I am getting married at the Catalonia Riviera Maya cause it is affordable, great service, wonderful reviews and we loved it when we went last year. You could find a number of reviews on here.

Hope this helps and good luck!!

Welcome! I think narrowing down your choices is one of the hardest parts - but also the first one you are able to check off your list. Once you have a location, the rest is a lot easier. Keep searching through the forum and you will find ssoo much information. I would also recommend contacting a TA who specializes in DW to your destination of choice. A TA will be able to help you narrow down the resorts and make your planning process a lot easier. Best of Luck!!!

Congrats and welcome! Finding a location I agree is the hardest being as though you have soooo many options. Once you narrow that down it shouldn't be as stressful. Make a list of all of must haves and stick to it crossing out places that don't offer what you want and prices a very important as well. Hope that helps some and good luck!

I think the location/resort was sort of easy to choose. There are tons and tons of options. But I chose BEACHES Resort at Turks and Caicos! Its all inclusive for yourself, FI, and guests!! But you can also upgrade/change many things!! I def think all inclusive is the way to go. Its nice! and we have done it before and it was fabulous. Also our friends were married at T&C. and they have gone to a sandals/beaches resort every year since!! Good Luck choosing!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
