Supposed to close on our new house today...now we might be losing it!

Recommended Posts

Any news? I am so crossing my fingers for you. We are supposed to close on our new house July 31 and I pray nothing comes up to mess that up. I can only imagine what you are going through - especially with your wedding just days away.

So did you ever get all of these contracts in writing? We woulnd't move forward with anything until we had it all in written contract form. I hope that you do and that it all works out...

Your prayers worked girls! We got a call from our lawyer this morning that probate has FINALLY approved our application (we had it in writing from the seller before but were waiting on probate) and we are all set to close on Wednesday at 2 PM! I am soooooooo overjoyed...yeah it's a little close to the wedding (we leave early Sunday) but at least we know we can come home to our new home :)

FI thinks we can get moved in before we leave but I think he's CRAZY. We don't have to be out of our apartment until August 1, so we will have a full week to move once we get back from Mexico. I don't want to stress myself out even more.

Thank you all for all your positive thoughts...I'm so glad it all worked out!

And foxytv I hope everything goes smoothly and you close at the end of the month! Best of luck!

FI and I went through the same emotional rollercoaster. We saw the house for the first time in Feb. We didn't put in an offer until March, we found out our offer wasn't taken bc some other guys put in a higher bid. Well, turns out he couldn't get pre-approved so that gave us another chance to put in another bid. After WEEKS of back and fourth counter-offers we finally settled on a price. Now, FI and I are doing the mortgage stuff, faxing paper work, visiting banks, and etc. Our original closing date was May 15 but turns out it kept getting pushed until May 21st.

I was thinking that once the bank/seller commits to an offer it's a done deal and no one else can do anything about it. I mean, when we heard our offer wasn't taken we just moved on (but crossed our fingers it wouldn't go through)... I'm really sorry to hear about all this stress right before your wedding. Hopefully the judge sees that your offer was accepted and honor that as well. What's this guys' argument anyway, that he's offering more, that he saw the house first? He should take it as a loss and I really hope that you get this house. Good luck!

UPDATE: Just saw your new post, congrats!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
