Hehe...it is crazy reading this post, as I am also using Angela, and even went down there to meet her parents and see Megans Bay!!! I LOVE her and her parents (who also help out a great deal with decorations, cleaning the beach, ect)

Here is our plans so far:

FIRST...photographer...Our own Jean Marcus!!! I had to put that in since he replied to this thread..hehe!!!

I do know the website for Angelas Photographer, I just have to dig it out.

He is suppose to be the best on the island and I have seen his website and he does his own editing according to Angela, which is unique for the islands where they ususally send them out to be edited.

I decided on Jean Marcus b/c Im a HUGE photojournalism fan, and LOVED his work. I just couldnt keep looking at his pics. It never really occurred to me to use someone from the states, but honestly, I couldnt sleep at night b/c I knew I would not be happy with anyone else....how crazy hu? But I guess that there is that ONE thing in our wedding that just has to be 'perfect' and for me it is photos!!!

(now dont let your head get too big there Jean Marcus!!! wink.gif

OK, here is what we have planned so far.

Wedding May 9, 2009

Ceremony- Magens Bay- That is the first pic shown with the pink chairs

We will probably do a small cocktail hour at the beach, with music, cake, champagne +/- hour dourves....I just hate to have a quick ceremony then run off to the reception...I mean that is the point is to have the wedding on the beach!!

Reception-huh.gifhuh.gif? This is now keeping me up at night. The freakin Ritz will not rent out space unless you have a HUGE party or some corporate event hasnt bought it out....so they let you know 3 months ahead of time!!!! Who can wait that long?

So we are thinking about either Havana Blue Restaurant or Frenchman's Reef has a site we can rent out as well. We just need 25 people there to do it and not sure if we will have the numbers. What I want is a sit down dinner or buffet with dancing and music!! Renting a villa is another option....ahhhh!!!

Not sure how we are transporting people though, but Angela will take care of that.

I just got some more info from Angela yesterday.

Officiate can either be Christian or Non Denominational

She has her own videographer Dow Video

They do the bridal bouquet and cakes, she just wants me to send her pics

They use silk flowers for the arches and stuff, but real ones for the boquet and reception centerpieces.....they will use real flowers if you want instead.

I forgot to ask about the music

Honestly, you can really do whatever you want. I have changed my mind so many times since Ive been talking to her, including the date which was in March, then April, now May!!!

She has an al a carte section, so you just tell her what you invision and I know she will do everything she can to help you.

Hope this helps

Amanda

I am having my reception at Havana Blue. While I LOVE Havana Blue, it may not work for you if you want to do alot of dancing. You would have to do a buy-out which is really expensive if you want to be able to have a dj or band to play your own music. If you only have 25 people, the buy-out price is just way too high. Our reception will just be a cocktail hour in their bar area and then a dinner. We will not have the restaurant to ourselves because the buy-out was just too pricey. We will all be sitting near each other though. Since you only have 25 people though, they may be able to seat you in their Privado room which is more private. It is a really beautiful place though and the food is delicious! Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Islandlover- Isn't my fiance ridiculous? He doesn't think our families and friends will like being on the sand. Our parents are kind of picky and old school-sigh. So I've been talking to Janelle about other grassy or solid locations. So sad...

As far as the dancing was concerned they told us you had to rent out the whole place to have your own music and dancing all night. They are letting us come early at 5 PM though which is 30 minutes before they open to start the cocktail hour and to do the first dance and all those other special dances ahead of time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
