Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of hiring outside photographer and videographer after reading all the reviews about the ones supplied by GS.  Has anyone found a way around the 300$ charge? How did you get it to work out that the other ones that GS supplied don't show up?

I was also told I only get the suite for the night, never thought it would be moving rooms more than once...

How many months out do you have to provide all the wedding details? is it better to do it sooner than closer to the wedding date?

Only have 9 months left and starting to get really stressed out!!

I just booked my wedding at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya and I feel so stressed already with everything I have to get done, I still have a year to do it thank god, but I have to say that the quick responses of the WC are greatly apreciated.

They have one photogrpher, i saw his work, you can see the link, is http://sweetcaribbeanweddings.com/perla-felipe-the-love-story, personaly that is what I am looking for, I wanted somehting like a love story to tell our kids when we have them and I thought the blog was amazing, I am definetely going for it and the prices are not as crazy as I thought, I have the packages if someone wants them. the only thing I didnt like is that $300 usd fee we have to pay, the WC explained that they have a contract with the Photo Adventure company but I mean I will pay the $300 usd fee to have good pictures of my wedding, it is the most important day of my life !

I've been looking into videographers as well. I have hired the photographer last year at Grand Sirenis after we got engaged to do some engagement photos. They were pretty terribly done. She also wasn't able to produce them in a timely matter (all they had to do was transfer the images on to a CD for us). There was no editing at all. We were able to buy the whole memory stick off of her because we had a flight to catch. And it was so not worth the money. But that said, I don't know if their videographer is any good. I wouldn't bet on it though, unfortunatley.

I know of one and I think he is great, he can do pictures and video, this is the email adress photo@sweetcaribbeanphoto.com, here is a link to se his pictures http://sweetcaribbeanweddings.com/perla-felipe-the-love-story, and the prices are not excesive. Hope this helps

Hi guys, congrats to everyone on their engagement!!! I am loving this site, it has been most helpful.  I however, have my deposit down on The Now Sapphire however, just got pricing back from my TA and it is extremely high.  So now I starting all over again.  I have been looking at The Grand Sirenis and I'm starting to love it.  I just have a few questions for those that have already been there.  How is the night life?  I am going with about 50 people and I'm wondering if everyone will be able to party at night (most are coming without kids)?  Also, is there anyway to get more A la Carte dinners? 8 restaurants and only 3 a la carte dinner :( Also, is there snacks available in the night time?  I thought I was done with this whole planning and finding a resort but I guess not!!!  Happy to hear any feedback as well!! Thanks and happy planning :)

Hi FtMacBride

I have been to the resort before. There is a disco (didn't make it there) and a lobby bar (where we hung out) and a billards room.  The ice cream place and the evening shows are wonderful. The lazy river is great and I did notice a splash area for kids. They have activities during the day by the pool as with most all inclusive resorts. The Japanese restaurant had really slow service when we were there and wasn't all that great. The steakhouse was by far my favourite. I believe if you get the highest wedding package you get unlimited ala cartes for the bride and groom anyways.  I have been told that there are snacks available at night although we didn't utilize them (or even know where they are!) when we were there last.  We will be there in November - when is your wedding?

Hi Oilersbride,

Thanks for the update.  We are getting married in April.  I am just in the middle of requesting April 16, for the beach ceremony and the Palapa reception.  Just awaiting confirmation. Also, waiting to get quote back from TA.  I assume that you guys are flying out of Edmonton?   Was your package under $2000 and who are you flying with?  I was dealing with a TA from Fort Mac but changed and now I dealing with one via email and phone calls from Vancouver.  The Fort Mac travel agent never seems too find any good deals :(

We are dealing with a travel agent through Sears Travel in Edmonton.  We initiated a package through Air Transat for our guests - flying from Edmonton for $1490 with taxes - we only had that price guarantee for 90 days - now they can still get a group rate but the current package online is around 1800 with taxes so now whoever books won't be getting as good of deal.  They offer a free (all you pay is taxes) trip for every 21 people who book so we have one free trip for my fiance's mother (my parents are footing the bill for our trip through their time share they have there).  They would also honor a one time price drop up to the time the full payment is due so should they get a deal on we can jump on that for our guests. Could the price be a bit higher since that is the week prior to easter? We are going over a long weekend and our trip has jumped in price for sure.

Air Transat kinda messed us around - we had our wedding date picked out (November 12 which is a tuesday) and had the choice of flying sunday to sunday or Thursday to thursday. Since we did not want only one full day down there before our wedding we took the thursday to thursday trip (which was also slightly cheaper).  Then AT changed their flight days so now we are flying wednesday to wednesday - they wouldn't honor the price for the sunday to sunday trip so all of our guests will be leaving the day after our wedding.  I think we lucked out with booking early to find a decent trip price.

I have found I have gotten good response from the wedding coordinators at the hotel - our travel agent did a destination wedding and said we could be waiting days if not a week for responses but so far so good - within a day.

Well that sounds like an awesome deal.  I am also dealing with Sear Travel and just waiting back to hear prices now.  I have found that the wedding coordinator has been awesome.  I emailed 4 times yesterday back and forth.  How just hoping the TA comes back with a good price so I can finalize everything and people can start paying their deposits.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
