In the Palapa you get different entree options. I gave everyone a menu for the dinner with out "Welcome to Mexico" booklets that I made and asked them to pick an entree. We just had to give the list to the coordinator before the wedding day (I think a day before was ok). Everyone could pick steak, surf n' turf or salmon and they even had a vegetarian option that had 3 choices as well. The coordinator made name tags with everyone's dinner choice (small print in the corner) so the waiters knew who ordered which dinner. You could even get your guests to pick before you get there if you wanted.

There were 4 choices of cake: strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and cheesecake. We had strawberry and it was very good; white cake with strawberry filling. I just let them decorate the cake with ribbon (can choose from colours that she has) and flowers. If you wanted something specific I am sure you can ask.

From what I've read, the wedding cake is always the same flavour.  Did anyone take pics along of how they wanted it decorated...or do you just go with whatever the chef feels like doing with it?

Oooo...thanks for these tidbits...I daydream constantly about all of these little details : )  We are totally going to take the dessert with the beach meal + the wedding cake.  I'm going to bring some boxes and plastic forks to send all of the leftover wedding cake with those guests who would like some.  They can just put it in their fridge and enjoy it over the next couple of days...I know there is no shortage of food around the resort, but sometimes it's nice to have a bit of a different treat to enjoy late at night! Corbeil...was the vanilla cake that you mentioned the tres leche cake that is their speciality?  I think others have mentioned that cake and how fantastic it is.

So, another question I have for those who have done a GS package that includes a rehearsal dinner...were all of your guests allowed to go to the rehearsal dinner (we'll have around 40)?  Was this over and above the guests' allotment of a la cartes for the week?

Did the B&G and/or the guests cut off the wristbands the day of the wedding?  Any issues getting new ones?  Just don't want wristbands in the photos...

For those who got married out at the palapa...is it absolutely out of the question to have the carts run those folks back to their rooms who want to "freshen up" while we are having pics done between the ceremony and the cocktail hour?

Ok, I'm sure I'll think of other things, but that's it for now...

We had 34 guests and all were allowed to go to the rehersal dinner and no it wasn't counted as their allotment of a la cartes for the week

We did not but were told if we wanted to we could.  I actually don't even notice it in the pictures.

You would have to check with the wedding planner but I think there is not enough time for that.  They have one cart that transports guests - it is too far to walk.  There is champagne and appies for them, and the palapa is right behind so they can go there as well.  The washroom is very clean and large so if they want to "freshen up" there they can.

Ok, I'm sure I'll think of other things, but that's it for now...

My daughter had her hair and make-up done at the spa, as it was included in the package we bought.  They did a great job and she was there for about 3 - 4 hours.  They also did the maid of honors hair and make-up and we all got dressed there.  Then we were picked up there to go to the wedding site directly.

New to the site but not new to the Grand Sirenis!  Just got engaged the weekend before last and we will be going in November of this year to get married!  I have been to the resort a few times before and my FH has been there every year since it opened.  We love it so much there!!!  Just wondering if any of you very helpful brides or bride-to-be's could pass along any pictures you might have to me of any ceremony or reception options.  I am just waiting to get confirmation of the date and then the real planning can start!  If they could be sent to kpeeke@secure-energy.ca that would be greatly appreciated!  Thank so much!!

Congrats!  Have you been there before?  I'm getting married there on April 24, 2012 and stayed there in 2009.  Can't wait!

    • Hi everyone! My name is Erin and I am a covid bride. My dream was to have a destination wedding. I wanted it easy, breezy and relaxed, with a whole weekend to celebrate with family and friends. I found the perfect venue, Key Largo Lighthouse Beach! (See http://www.keylargolighthouse.com ). The reviews are amazing, and my experience with the venue has been nothing but great, I have emails to prove it! My wedding was going to be four days of pure bliss, on a private beach with amazing beach houses for my bridal party to stay in (the houses can hold 25 people comfortably!) They even gave us a hugeeee discount because of covid! We planned the whole thing, including catering, desserts, an open bar, dj and photographer. But then covid hit. After moving our date back 3 times, expending our engagement far longer than we wanted, we decided enough was enough. We decided to do a small, local ceremony and reception on August 1st, and we are now married! It wasn’t my dream wedding, but it ended up being perfect, even though it was planned in two weeks! But now we’ve paid for two weddings, and we don’t feel like we need another reception. We want that money to pay off student loans, or put a down payment on a house! Or even for our future child’s college fund. However, we cannot get our money back from the venue, per the contract. Finally to the point of my post, the only way we can get a refund is by finding someone to take our place. No one would pay us directly, it would be the normal way for whoever takes over, you’d pay the venue. You’d also get our discount so you’d save money. If anyone knows someone who wants an amazing destination/beach wedding in 2021, please let me know! I’ll give you more details directly.
    • I hope you have chosen choosen 3d dress too, it looks the best. When my friend was having a Bachelorette Party and we had to find nice looks for the night, it was like a nightmare. Because 4 girls like 4 different styles and it was hard to find the best one. There are a lot of great articles on this topic you can find on the web https://storyofthebride.com/2020/bachelorette-party-looks-that-will-define-the-night/ . But still we had decided on our brain storm that black and white outfits would have the best looking. It was the only one look that everyone shared. So we had not too many options.
    • Vaughan is a city in Ontario, Canada, where my sister got married last February, before the pandemic. This wasn’t a pre-planned wedding. Since her husband hails from there, Vaughan was chosen as the destination for their wedding. It was a great decision they had made because that helped us create memories that I will cherish forever in my life. The attitude and the approach of the locals are so warm that I felt like I was in my hometown. An outdoor event venue was chosen because the climate was exceptional, decorated with lights and flowers. We couldn’t stop ourselves from clicking photographs, and everything was arranged perfectly, making the event all hassle-free. The reception ceremony was neatly done with mouthwatering food preparations. It was fun to have a wedding there and it was an event well organized. If any of you are looking for a destination wedding in Canada, Vaughan is a prudent choice. I have heard Montreal is nice but this was a great experience. Now it’s not the right time folks. Stay safe at your places. Let this pass and then we shall think about such events.
    • Hey! That's an interesting thought. It's important to wear masks though the pandemic wave is being contained in many parts of the world. Keep safe.
