@Kbodchill - I was wondering if you could answer a question about the palapa dinner for me. I see that there are more choices on the menu for dinner, do we just get to pick from the menu at dinner or is it something that we have to choose in advance of the wedding date?

Also just curious, do you still get robes and slippers in the rooms?

Well I got frustrated and called Mexico myself. I just got off the phone with Araceli and have a few answers now:

@ corbeil - you have to tell her your menu choice when you arrive and have your meeting with her. For us we have 39 people so Araceli said that everyone didn't have to have the same entree as Blanca had originally told me. She just to let her know how many steak and how many fish when I arrive at the hotel.

- One thing she did mention that she says Air Transat never tells the Brides is that the cost of the minister is not included. She said that cost would be $4500 pesos. If you are doing a spiritual ceremony, instead of legal, she said someone at the hotel might be able to do the ceremony but she didn't know the cost.

- Cost for the stereo equipment is $400 pesos per hour or the dj is $650 per hour. Blanca had quoted me lower rates if we were getting the 3 course meal but Araceli said these are the rates.

- If anyone else has a gluten allergy like me, if you bring your own cake mix they will make you an extra gluten free cake at no cost.

- We rented the palapa for 5 hours, the additional 1 hour is $100 pesos per person per hour.

Araceli sounded really nice! I feel sooo much better now that I talked to her.

@ChristeG - Thanks for the info. I guess we will have to get everyones meal choices as soon as we get there. I did know about the minister fees, so I considered that when deciding what package to get. They always have to put that stuff in the fine print. That price is very close to the price that Tania gave me, but I think Melaina was quoted closer to $500 USD.

It seems like Araceli knows what is going on, I am glad that you were able to speak to her. That makes me feel better too!

I think that we are just doing to bring our ipod and a portable speakers for it for the music. We are not worried about dancing so I think it will work out just fine. That is if my Dad isn't the only one in charge of music! :)

This is all great info girls!!

@Denita: Yes, the extras do start to add up. We were thinking that we'd go with the Transat package and add the stuff we wanted to it, but in the end we're set on the presidential package cause my bratty fiancé must have the presidential suite ;) So for you, with 30 ish ppl, you're looking at:

-your package ($1500)

-upgrade to palapa ( approx $1000)

-$65 (regular) or $95 bucks (lobster) per person above 24 ppl.

-dj 65$ an hour

+ and then your other add ons

@Corbeil: ChristieG beat me too it! And yes, there are still robes and slippers in the room. If you want to keep them, you're supposed to pay 50 bucks used and 75 new... However, we had this dude come see us on the last day and he totally offered us new ones (still packaged) for 50$. Then, when I said no, he offered 10$!  Long story short, me and my hunny are ballin' in our new robes.. hopefully that dude will visit you too!

YUS! I was wondering if they weren't going to marry us because I was a bad, procrastinating bride! It'll be great to see you -- I'll be the one wearing an atrociously awesome white floppy hat (hello discount rack). Happy packing!!

    • Hi everyone! My name is Erin and I am a covid bride. My dream was to have a destination wedding. I wanted it easy, breezy and relaxed, with a whole weekend to celebrate with family and friends. I found the perfect venue, Key Largo Lighthouse Beach! (See http://www.keylargolighthouse.com ). The reviews are amazing, and my experience with the venue has been nothing but great, I have emails to prove it! My wedding was going to be four days of pure bliss, on a private beach with amazing beach houses for my bridal party to stay in (the houses can hold 25 people comfortably!) They even gave us a hugeeee discount because of covid! We planned the whole thing, including catering, desserts, an open bar, dj and photographer. But then covid hit. After moving our date back 3 times, expending our engagement far longer than we wanted, we decided enough was enough. We decided to do a small, local ceremony and reception on August 1st, and we are now married! It wasn’t my dream wedding, but it ended up being perfect, even though it was planned in two weeks! But now we’ve paid for two weddings, and we don’t feel like we need another reception. We want that money to pay off student loans, or put a down payment on a house! Or even for our future child’s college fund. However, we cannot get our money back from the venue, per the contract. Finally to the point of my post, the only way we can get a refund is by finding someone to take our place. No one would pay us directly, it would be the normal way for whoever takes over, you’d pay the venue. You’d also get our discount so you’d save money. If anyone knows someone who wants an amazing destination/beach wedding in 2021, please let me know! I’ll give you more details directly.
    • Please help me out, I am little bit confused in choosing the right website. As I am looking for a wedding ceremony script, I visited many websites but I found only three useful but still have doubt in choosing one. So I put a poll to determine which is the better option. Please vote and share your opinion. Thanks🙂
    • Congratulations Kim and follow all mandatory guidelines and be safe. BEST WISHES both of you💞
    • It's so sweet, Nice idea. Perfect for a cute wedding.😍
    • It depends on how far you can go, Can you go out of US for destination wedding, If yes then their are tons of options Ex. Bali,Thailand is becoming the new hot spot for destination weddings, Other one I would recommend is Rajasthan,India It might be expensive wedding but totally worth it the wedding takes place in palaces. If you don't have that much of budget still their are many options available such as Sicily,Italy - get the authentic wedding ceremony in Italy other one i would recommend is going to Spain their iconic scenery are perfect for a wedding. Thanks🙂
