Recommended Posts

Sorry first time replying! We arrive here on the day of your wedding and get married on the 23rd October 2014. We have also booked through Thomson and Haven't a clue what to go for? We are thinking the Bbq instead of a sit down meal! So excited how long are you staying for after the wedding? X

We are there till 25th so may see you. From looking through the brochure the first time I thought that you would have to pay both large amounts and each package but after going over this I think of you were to upgrade to the presidential package you would jut need to pay the additional fee to the total. Think we are also going for the BBQ as its easier and we have a lot of fussy eaters in the wedding party.

Hi there, I am new to this site and I am hoping to get married at Grand Sirenis in December 2014. Firstly, thank you so much to all the brides that have posted here so far. I have read so many useful posts that have answered lots of questions already. Joanne and Victoria, I'm so glad you are here because am travelling from the UK with Thomson/First Choice too so hopefully we can share information and experiences on here - and congratulations of course!! So far I have contacted Fernanda at GS and she sent me some initial information on the packages (basically what you can already find online), I replied asking lots of questions - as you do - but I haven't heard back from her and that was a few weeks ago (I chased this week so hopefully I will hear back soon.) I've also contacted First Choice/Thomson wedding team to compare prices etc, but again no reply! Not a good start, but it's early days and I'm keeping optimistic. By the way I will probably be taking about 20 guests and we want to opt for the Silver Package as it's simple and affordable (not sure what name Thomson give this one though - I think it differs do any of you know??) One question you may already know - is the blood test included? If not, how much extra is it? Thanks in advance, Hayley xx

I haven't even had the option of upgrading to the presidential! Need to ask about this! We are the same and have a few young children to accomadate for so BBQ is the way forward! Yeah we might see you - could be hard to not bump into two large parties! Where are you flying from? X

Hi Ladies, I am also hoping to get married at GS next December but I haven't booked it yet. I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it's amazing (hence our return for this special occasion.) I was just wondering how you have found First Choice/Thomson? I emailed the wedding team over a week ago and I still haven't had a response from them so it's a bit of a disappointing start. I have heard that the resort have different names for the packages to Thomson, is this right? I am seriously wondering if it's easier to book the wedding directly with GS. What are your thoughts/experiences? Congratulations on your engagements and if you have questions about the resort itself/the surrounding areas, feel free to ask. Hayley xx

Hi Hayley

I think booking directly with the resort for the wedding package is the way to go. basically Thomson would be acting as a middle person for your communication back and forth with resort and that is ANNOYING. Best to find out the information directly. I have information regarding the packages if you want to give me your email address I can send you the information from the resort so you can see the difference. Plus the wedding coordinators thus far we have dealt with at the resort (there have been three and we are now with our official person) have all gotten back to us within a day or two at most on any questions we had. It has been awesome.  Our travel agent that we booked our flights and hotel through said that when he got married in mexico it was days or over a week in some cases for the wedding coordinator to get back to them about information so I definitely feel like dealing with the resort (and in particular this one!) is probably for the best. You are only waiting on one person not the middle person waiting for information and then you waiting for that middle person to give you information!

I second that! I booked the group vacation through Flight Centre, which was awesome, but after that I was put in communication with a coordinator at the resort and I email her all the time. She was very quick with her responses from the get go, evenwhen it was 14 months away. Also, it's important to bring any e-mails that are important and if the communication is directly with the resort they can't argue what was previously agreed to (which I've heard can be an issue when dealing with a middle party).

Thank you both, That is great advice and has confirmed my thoughts on dealing directly with the hotel. I have received some basic info from Fernanda in resort who responded very quickly. Oh yes, any brochures would be great, especially any that give you the cake and flower options if you have them. (My email address is hayleywatts82@gmail.com.) I am thinking of having the Italian restaurant for my reception meal - I love the black and white filmstar photos in there and I think everyone in my party will enjoy the cuisine. Did anyone else here have the Italian? What can you have? Is the meal a set menu? Hayley xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
