Hello Everyone!

I have been reading this thread from start to finish and it has been so helpful you have no idea!!  Thank-you to all the past brides for posting such detailed reviews!!  They have been amazing, it is so nice to just be able to read through the posts instead of emailing the WC's every single question.  Plus it's great hearing everyone's experiences!

We are booked to get married April 10th 2014.  We gave our deposit about a week ago through our travel agent and I haven't heard a confirmation yet but I really hope that we get the date.  We were originally booked at the Grand Palladium however we weren't able to get a wedding date so we had to move everyone to this resort!!  Huge headache but after seeing the beautiful photos of the palapa location, I'm starting to think that everything happens for a reason!

We will be booking the Presidential wedding package.  It looks like the best bang for your buck and I'm hoping that we can upgrade to a connecting suite as we will be bringing my future step children.  Would be very nice to have the connecting suite for us.  But that is all just wishful thinking! lol

Anyway, Can't wait to get to know all you brides!! :)

Congratulations! That's exciting! I took a tour of all their suites when I was there last year and they definitely do have some Silver/Gold/Platinum level rooms that have connecting suites (and there was a playstation and xbox too I think). You should ask your coordinator about those rooms.

So we finally got everything confirmed.  I got the receipt the other day and she also sent me a list of all the details that I will need to fill out three months prior to our wedding date!  :)

Janelle - Maybe we will end up running into each other!  We will be arriving on April 7th (the Monday) not sure if you will still be there or not.  Have you got your dress yet?

Jho - That's awesome that they have connecting suites.  I had asked my travel agent about these and she said that you can't book them but that you can ask for an upgrade when you are there?!?  Not sure why you can't request them.  We opted for two junior suite rooms instead.  Your date is coming up soon!!  Do you feel like you have everything ready?  Are you bringing centerpieces or any favours?

Yes!! It's quickly approaching! We depart for Mexico on July 29th! I have tonnes and tonnes of stuff to bring I need to spend a week organizing and sort voluntelling people to help bring some stuff down for me.

I made all my own kissing balls. Super happy with how they turned out. I made 10 of them and they will hang off the tiffany chairs down the aisle. I spoke with my wedding coordinator and she said I might need about 15-20 of the aisle runners for the length of the walk (it comes up to about $250! I have to look into some options or just bite the bullet I guess).

The kissing balls are then going to turn into our centerpieces (we have about 7-8 tables, so 2 can be used for the guestbook/escort card tables or for the cake table...) I'll post a picture of these babies on my planning thread soon. :)

For favors - I bought these really bright and fun beach towels as a welcome gift and I'm gonna roll them up and tie a bow with a little note for each of my guests. Then I bought a box of buri fans, photo coasters, and mini lanterns for the wedding day. I also made over 12 pairs of beaded barefoot sandals for my ladies. I really need to post all this stuff in the planning journal. I'm just being stubborn and wanted to post the professional pictures of them from the event hahaha...

The most stressful part of this is the AHR we're having 6 days after we come back from our DW. And I'm worried my dress won't come back in a wearable condition as I'm planning to trash it, so I may have to get another dress for that. The AHR is for 150 people and it's also the day we're legally signing our papers - I certainly didn't plan to have such a big event after the wedding... but once you let your traditional Chinese dad get involved.... sigh.

The whole year went by so quickly and as stressful as it can be I've enjoyed every single second of it. Can't wait to see all my hard work come together. :)

Hi Brides - I'm a little bit worried about any surprise wedding upcharges and want to prepare as much as possible. For those who were married at this resort - the Pres. package only includes accommodations for up to 10 guests. Did you have to pay extra for extra chairs? What color sashes do the chairs come with? How much were the sashes? Did anyone else use the burlap runner? If so, how many pieces did you have to get? We want to do a sparkler set off at the end of the night, how much did those come up to? Please let me know what kind of surprise charges you might run into. Thanks beautiful brides!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Everyone - so excited I found this site - have spent hours going through all the old posts and think I've picked up some great pointers.

I'm interested in hearing from other brides who have recently purchased the presidential wedding package from the resort. Were you able to stay in the presidential suite for the full week? Similar to sgreen99, the WC has told me that the upgrade is only for the night of the wedding. I don't really think I want to pay the additional costs for this unless we get the suite for the full week. Just interested in hearing what other have to say about this. Thanks :)

So something I have been wanting from day 1 is videography of my wedding.  Has anyone used a videographer at Grand Sirenis? If so, could you post a reply with a review and name of the videographer? thank you!!

I've been looking into videographers as well. I have hired the photographer last year at Grand Sirenis after we got engaged to do some engagement photos. They were pretty terribly done. She also wasn't able to produce them in a timely matter (all they had to do was transfer the images on to a CD for us). There was no editing at all. We were able to buy the whole memory stick off of her because we had a flight to catch. And it was so not worth the money. But that said, I don't know if their videographer is any good. I wouldn't bet on it though, unfortunatley.

Hey! I just upgraded to the presidential package and got the same info from the wedding coordinator. She said that because they have to accommodate all brides and only have a couple of these suites, it's only for the wedding night. Personally, I'd rather stay in the same room the whole time, because Maria did also tell me that you actually have to move all your stuff into the presidential quite for the night, you won't have both rooms - why change rooms twice just to sleep in a bigger room on your wedding night? Just seems like extra stress to me!

I had to fight for my week. I forwarded all the emails, marketing materials, brochures, etc. that made me believe I would get the Presidential Suite for the week. It had to get escalated. But they did tell me that going forward it won't be a week long stay but only for the wedding night and that they're working on updating all their marketing materials. I think that's ridiculous. Who would want to change rooms 3 times in one week?!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
