All the meals have to be the same :/ I find it hard to decipher what she's saying sometimes. I sent her a huge list of questions on Sunday -- haha!
Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Melaina - What is the cost for renting the restaurant? Blanca failed to mention that to me in her emails, althought I stopped emailing her a while ago as I got frustrated trying to get answers to my questions. Also, what is the cost for the mariachi band? I didn't even know that was an option. Blanca quoted two prices for the dj, one email she said $350 pesos per hour and in another she said $650 per hour.
Any info you have would be a huge help... we are getting married February 22, 2011 and its coming up quickly!

Blanca quoted me $11,050 pesos to rent the restaurant and $650 pesos per hour for the DJ. She's also quoted me a few different prices (my centrepiece was originally free, now it's $60... GAH!), so my plan is to bring copies of all our emails down there...
Mariachi band was quoted at $5,750 for five members -- we thought this was too expensive so we asked for other options (we just want a CD for the ceremony music, but I can't figure out if that's an option!).
Also, she originally told me that I could use my own CD for the reception, they'd supply the speakers for free and microphone... now we have to hire the DJ to get the services. Booo.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help you out with... Please come back here after your wedding and give us the inside scoop!

Melaina the price for the restaurant for the whole restaurant or to extend the reception to 4 hours? We are thinking of doing the same thing but I haven't contacted her for a price yet.
Just so you know your witnesses that sign the marriage certificate only have to have their passorts. I think that we will have to have passports and birth certificates. I am going to bring a photocopy of my birht certificate as well in case they need a copy. I couldn't get a straight answer out of Blanca if the copies had to be certified.
I sure hope everything works out when we are there because it is sure frustrating doing everything here!

Thanks Corbeil for the info on the passports and birth certificates -- yet another thing I hadn't thought of!! And yes, that price was to privately rent the whole restaurant for a total of four hours (our dinner/reception is running 7 - 11 p.m... we figure that's long enough (although if you decide to go with the non-private reception, I'd imagine they'd have a tough time kicking you out after a certain time frame).
I have a feeling everything will work out... My FMIL (also travel agent) sent a couple down to the Grand Sirenis in November to get married and she said that it was wonderful. I wonder if the problem is Blanca's newness?? Although I guess she's been there for six months at least...
Fingers crossed! At least I'm not the only one who's having issues (I was afraid I was turning into a bridezilla last week... hehe).

I'm considering having my wedding at Grand Sirenis but I haven't been able to get a response from anyone at the resort. I tried the generic email on their official site, but so far, nothing. Can someone please post a contact email for me? It would be much appreciated

Hey Kbodchill: the email address I've been using is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The coordinator's name is Blanca. If you're flying out from Canada, you might look into the Air Transat package (your travel agent can help). I've heard that the weddings run out of the resort can be quite expensive...

Weird, my formatting screwed up. The last but of my sentence should've read: "I've heard that the wedding packages run out of the resort alone can be quite expensive." I'm happy to send over the menu/cake/flower choices powerpoint if you're interested Just PM me your email.

Great Melaina! Thanks for the Blanca's contact info, I'm gonna shoot off an email tonight. I'd love to see any powerpoints you have as well! I'm sending you my email.
I will also take ask my travel agent about the Air Transat package... I'm really new to the whole destination wedding thing (Never been to one, don't know anyone who's done it) I just know that its what we want to do. My biggest concern is that it looks like we will have quite a large turnout (50+) so I'm really hoping it won't be difficult to find a resort to accomodate that number, without bankrupting both us and our guests!
