Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

I haven't asked but was thinking about that. Maybe on the first night we are there for supper. I don't feel like we need a rehearsal dinner the night before but would like something early in the week.

Most of our group booked on the last few days! Actually most booked a day after the deadline but Transat honored the price! Lol

We were in the city and one dress was in at David's Bridal. I decided I love color now and am happy went with it! Lol

I asked Andrea about the dinner and she said because it wasn't in our package we would have to book thru the concierge once we get there. Which means - fat chance - it's hard enough to get an Ala Carte already, but one for 42 people? ha!  Maybe when we get our coordinators a couple months before the wedding I will ask them too.  I don't need a rehearsal dinner, just something with all of us together.  I guess I can plan welcome drinks somewhere.

I wasn't going to get flowers for anyone but me and my fiance, but decided I have to suck up the cost and do it.  With the bright pink/fuchsia dresses, I really like the idea of orange and yellow gerbers, so I have asked for a quote for a bouquet of 3 each.  We will see what that price is.  Their flower prices do seem steep!

So I picked up my dress and got it on again because I wanted to make sure my jewelry matched well. it does! yay!  BUT new dresses fit snugger than stock/floor dresses and that caught me a bit off guard.  I plan to put it on alot to make it not so stiff lol

That's awesome that Air Transat did that. When was your deposit deadline? When do people have to pay buy?   We made our deposit deadline a week before AC's deadline just in case :)  Still haven't heard anything about what my flight change will be GRRR

The deposit deadline was last week in  June and we have 34 people booked and I think we will get at least 2 more couples coming and one family is thinking about bringing kids so I think we will have between 35-40. Final trip is due at end of September I think.

Can you look directly on AirCanada site and see what they have for flights there now?

Awesome!

I ordered a few more favors incase we get some last minute people!

You have an awesome number, isn't it great? Feels so special :)

Our deadline just passed, and then final payment is due in October.

Yes, I know exactly what flights are now available for January thru Air Canada, BUT, it's their call to make so I sit and wait for them to give us our options.   I guess it has to be formal, but my TA has gave them my first request so they know what I am interested in.  SOOOO frustrating, more so to for my guests thinking about doing a second week at another resort, AC is holding off quoting until they decided on my departure date change.

I was on here ages ago and didn't find any discussion from ladies that was current and now I came on and found all kinds of discussions! Where have you all been!??  :P  :P

I leave on Sunday!!! I saw someone else say they were a teacher, I am too, so this is the best time for me to travel. My fiance and I are heading down on Sunday with my parents, my sister and brother in law, and my aunt. We will be there as a group for one week. This will be a nice relaxing week before the chaos of the wedding party begins! Everyone else arrives next Sunday, August 3rd, and we are getting married on August 8.

We have 31 guests other than ourselves. We are so excited!! It is coming up so quickly!

After the wedding week and all of our guests leave, we will be heading across to Cozumel for a week where we will have our honeymoon!  :D

We have booked the Presidential package down by the Pallapa. We were very much planning on going with the Free package with a few upgrades but found that things really started to add up and it was only a few thousand dollars difference between 'making it work' and having everything you could possibly hope for! We will be paying around $7000 for everything... and did I mention how excited we are?

I have had excellent service from both Maria and Andrea and now I have been introduced to and am working with Lilian who is my wedding coordinator. I cannot tell you how incredible they have been to work with. So attentive and answering all of our questions, within a day at most!

We are using the resort photographer, they sent us a quote and a bunch of pictures that we were very impressed with so we are going to go with that. these are actual weddings photographed at Sirenis by the Adventure Photos group that is affiliated with the resort:

I will gladly give reviews and pictures once we are back. I can't wait to experience what promises to be the best holiday of our life.

Let me know if you have questions!

This is my dress. Ordered it custom made to fit me, and had it shipped from China all for $300.

I LOVE IT!

I don't know about having to upgrade thru your travel agent?  I booked thru the hotel myself, and my travel agent just did our packages.  I have booked the free wedding but paid to upgrade to the palapa/private beach and never had any issues, or haven't been told there are any (IE I said I wanted it and wasn't told otherwise).

As far as I am aware from other brides, if the space is available you can pay for whatever you want!!!!

In Canadian dollars the upgrade from the free package to have the palapa was $980.  That is for 3 hours.  You pay for extra time over top of that, and you pay for the DJ, etc.   The beach bbq menu was approx Canadian $31.    That's what I chose.  The reason I chose the free package is because I didn't want all the extra fluff in the gold or higher packages. So this way I get more of what I actually want and it is actually cheaper.

You should email the wedding coordinators to get all their info, they sent me pages and pages of extras, costs, etc.

Good luck!

Did they send you a copy of the menus?

the idea of choosing the free package and upgrading to palapa and private dinner sounds great!

Yes they did send me copies of the menus if you are using the palapa not a restaurant (aka Ala Carte). There was 2 or 3 to choose from and we chose the cheapest one, which I think is more than enough.  If you PM your email I can send you the menus.   Can't recall if I got menus for the restaurants because I never planned to use one, I never paid much attention.

Can't wait to hear all about it and see some pictures!!!  Good luck and have a fabulous time.

Congrats!

ps - awesome dress.  Did it fit well? a doctor I work with did that, but her's wasn't even close and it was dirty, so she got another one.  Her's was only about $130 though.

And because I am snoopy - is the $7000 just for the wedding or your vacation packages too?   our vacation packages (family of 4) cost $5066, wedding around $4500-$5000, and photography $1600 (that is with the free package.... but we do get some bonuses thru AC that we will use towards our $5066 fee, so hope to pay around $1500-2000 less)

The wedding packages and resort look great. The only thing that concerns me about GS is the beach. Has anyone been there?

I read on tripadvisor that the beach is small(ish) and very rocky... Is this true?

I have been hearing mixed reviews about the beach. It sounds like there are a few different areas of the beach and the area that has great snorkeling is a bit rocky (from what I understand). From the pictures it looks like it is beautiful and my TA had recommended this beach over some other resorts.. I don't think that it is small but I guess I don't have much to compare it to- the last resort we stayed at we never even went to the beach and the sister resort had a small beach littered with people selling stuff! lol

Good luck playing your wedding! I see you have it narrowed down to area and month already! I suggest emailing Andrea and she can send you pictures of what ever you need- they are awesome!

Welcome Okotoksbride! To bad you didnt find us sooner- but please fill us in on all the details from your wedding and offer us advice! We have our own little Canadian community going on here!

Yeah summer would be the perfect time for a teacher wedding- except in my case my fiance owns a small business that does all its work from April-November so pickings were slim for us.. All school holidays are to expensive so had to take a week off in December! It is awesome that you can have so much time to enjoy your wedding!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
