Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

Has anyone read up about the Zika virus that's going around in the Caribbean and South America right now? I have a few bridesmaids who are trying for babies. Very dangerous for pregnant women to be exposed to this virus. I'd pass this along/take a look: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/health/what-is-zika-virus.html?_r=0

ok my friends ! im about all set up here!

wow what am i doing to do with all my time now that this is mostly figured out !!!!

i was able to find a referenced photographer from friends, who agreed to go to our resort for a 4 day vacation, and not charge us for the 6 hours of photos she will take !!!! i am so ecstatic,  i had found nothing under 2000$ Canadian for photographers with the vendor fees and other fees.,

now ill pay 1200$ cad, and im all set !

ok, i almost killed my future husband with this but... i can’t get passed the fact that its moments we will have forever,

i also decided on getting water bottles for our guests i was looking online all day, and was getting discouraged about the prices because most sites that sell with inscriptions you need to get 50-100 bottles.,.. so the cost was major,

so i found some stainless steel bottles last night at a store close to home (50% off) and i found another site i didn’t need to get 100 stickers made, and those are being processed also ! so i will be able to give those, and also im going to get some cards made out for the preview of the day.,

anyone else have good ideas on party favors or what you are working on?

Hey! @@vivitazy

We did tumbler cups with hangover/oh shit kits inside

We had fans on the ceremony chairs

Then did maracas for the reception with a cute inscription. Guests loved them

'Instead of tapping on your glass here's a (tradition) with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might to see the groom

Kiss his bride tonight' tradition may have been the wrong word. Got the maracas from Amols online for $1.65 per pair. Super cheap and I used a marker to personalize with our names. See my planning threads for pics :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Finally I have found a place with kindred spirits! I booked my wedding for January 2017 at GS and feel totally overwhelmed with all the decisions I need to make. I thought it so sweet when my Fiance said whatever you want I'll be happy with. Smart man because he doesn't have to make any decisions.

The only hiccup I have experienced so far was the first package information I was sent by my Travel Agent mentioned the free package and I was like yes please only to find out that as of 2016 they have fazed it out and the cheapest I could book was the Silver (figures lol). I can't get mad because my TA is my Auntie so I chose to forgive instead lol.

I just wanted to thank you to all of  you as I have gotten a wealth of information from this board already. So far we are going with the Silver Package with the Cocktail Party afterwards and I'm trying to patiently wait until deposits for the trip are in so I actually know how many people are coming for sure because you just never know.

One question I had is has anybody booked the Private Cocktail Party? If so is it already decorated or do I have to chose from the extra list? Also has anybody ever extended it longer?

TIA

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I was married at the GS over a year ago on Jan 21/15.   LOVED our wedding and the resort was pretty awesome too :)

Waiting for those deposits to come back can be pretty stressful, I think most ladies on here would agree.

That really sucks that the free package is no longer available!  We had the free package and upgraded our location to the palapa for our reception. Was just what I had envisioned.. have you seen pics of the palapa?

With respect to packages and cocktail hours and extensions is that I say to consider what your really want from your wedding. Do you want a long reception with dancing? Do you want a private dinner with lots of speeches and the like?     That will really help guide you on what package / location of reception / length of time / extras make the most sense for you two!!

People definitely do the cocktail party! That would be your chance to have your cake, first dance, and some fun.  You could probably get some speeches done over dinner but I believe you only get 1.5 hours and it wouldn't be private so not sure you would get a mic or anything.   The cocktail party will not come decorated.  You could totally extend to ensure you had a party that suited your taste in length, but if you pay for it twice you may want to consider a different package or an upgrade to the palapa!

I can talk you thru all that if you want additional info -- again it really comes down to how you visualize your big day!

Thanks so much for your response and you have definitely given me some things to think about! I have decided to wait until April when I find out who put deposits down to make anymore decisions because I think that will influence my decisions. I will keep you posted!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
