Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

I completely understand and was in the same boat at 3 weeks left, but as long as you and the groom make it to the resort with your wedding dress, everything will be fine. I brought almost no decor with me and everything turned out beautifully. Your day is going to be perfect!

Glad to hear you say that.  I'm not bringing anything with me for decor at all!  I didn't upgrade decor either.  I'm worried about my playlist (lack of) shoes (don't have those either), and favours (boy I'm a slacker)

I didn't have a play list for the reception. My WC asked me at dinner what he should play haha. I had only chose the 3 songs needed for the ceremony.

It's sandal season now so I bet (if you want sandals) a quick trip to the mall will yield plenty of selection.

Not sure on favors. I ordered maracas but you won't have time to ship. Hmmmmmm

I'm picky, and I was ready to cry from not finding what I needed.... But finally

Ladies just curious did most of you use Pesos or USD for tipping?

Love those shoes @@JoannaBanana

Any of the brides that got married in the last couple weeks use the spa for hair/makeup? What were your thoughts and what time did you start getting ready on the wedding day?

How were the mosquitos recently at the resort? Do I need to bring tons of bug repellant?

We've been using pesos exclusively on the trip as the exchange rate is much better. A few of our guests used USD only, which is fine too but you get better bang for your buck with pesos. When a local tells you something costs $X in US or $Y in pesos the exchange rate they are using is terrible if you pay in USD.

We did hair and makeup at the spa for myself and two bridesmaids and it turned out perfectly. We started at noon and finished at about 2:30pm (wedding was at 5pm). There are only two ladies working there, so I would budget a conservative 2 hours for every 2 people getting hair and makeup done.

I'm currently getting eaten alive by mosquitoes in Playa del Carmen, but didn't get bit much on resort. I know a few people who got a few bites so I would bring some bug spray, but I don't think you need a ton.

I also would use peso, not only is the exchange better it is their currency! Just ensure you give enough - i.e. Don't tip $1 peso for a dollar tip $10 peso :) or whatever. Don't waste your money in converting to US haha this is a large pet peeve of mine

We had 4 of us. We started with 2 stylists but they brought in a 3rd. Ok for hair but recommend sticking to one lady for the BMs makeup as you'll find they vary in what they do. My one BM felt her makeup just wasn't the same as the other two so their stylist re did it. -- id recommend Carmen and Isis. We started at 9am and with a quick lunch at the spa restaurant got back to our room shy of 200pm! Remember that shuttle can take time to make its rounds to the spa so budget extra time for this.

If you do a trial of hair the wedding day goes faster (I found anyways)

I was there in Jan 2015 and had no issues with mosquitos

Thank you ladies! I went with pesos! And thank you for the spa timeline @@krystalball that is super helpful! Just curious we have 103 guests and the max for the Palapa is 100, I have been waiting to hear back from Diana for about a week if they will let us use it anyway. I'm in a bit of a panic because I really have my heart set on it and its part of why I chose the hotel and package I chose. What do you guys think? Anyone else use the Palapa with over 100?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
