Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Thanks @@emjay84. So it's my understanding that if we have more than 15 guests we will have to choose a set menu (from the menu you provided) for the rehearsal dinner like we will at the reception?

My timeline was same but started at 3pm and reception was at 5pm

We had no vows that we wrote so in all honesty my ceremony from the bridal party walking down the isle to everyone walking back Up at the end was less than 13 mins lol

Your timeline seems good :)

So I want a welcome dinner without having a welcome dinner....  I mean... without paying for one.  LOL.  Do you think we could ask for the buffet to hold an area for us?  We'll probably be around 50 people.  If not I'm just going to set a time for us to flock in to the lobby bar after dinner.  Also what's the max reservation for an ala cart?

We didn't have the rehearsal dinner in our package but we got her to book us an ala carte on the down low. You could try that?

If you just show up to the buffet and are willing to possibly wait they can throw some tables together for you. We had 20 plus some times and they accommodated.

The ala cartes were frustrating. A tip is to book ASAP when you arrive. If you want the good ones only book for 2 people maybe 4 max. (Good being japanese and brazillian) We tried to book in a group of 10-12 and secured 2 spots but that was a LONG HARD fight with the concierge. Super annoying. And with those two we booked we got the least preferred ones (ie steakhouse). He wouldn't even find us 4 tables at the same time. Maybe it was just him.

We had our welcome party in the tequila lobby. We just moved tables together and had no issues. Some sat. Some stood. It's just loud so harder to talk to a group, I had to walk around and thank each person and hand their gift. Couldn't say it to everyone was a group.

no problem, yes from my understanding you have to choose a main entree from the restaurant if you have more guests. And, they gave me the choice of also stating if there were any vegetarians.

@@calgarybride2015 do you by chance remember or have those vows in writing. My fiancé would prefer to know them in advance to practise ;) (nerves about speaking in public)! I asked the wedding coordinator to send them to us but haven't received them yet.

I think it depends on the minister. All we said was ' I do' no repeat after me stuff. In my planning thread below one of the last pages has a link to watch my ceremony if you were interested.

Nerves are why we didn't do our own vows but Hindsite I may have since we didn't say anymore than 'I do'. Ahh well

Just curious if any of you ladies are doing Catholic Ceremonies? We are having a catholic wedding in the chapel on site, and completed all the paper work/course that was required but I can't seem to be able to find anyone else whose done one to get an idea of the lay out, if there is a rehearsal with the priest and if we do readings during the ceremony. Adriana is amazing but she doesn't seem to understand my questions so I am thinking they must do it a little differently. Hoping someone can help :)

Hello ladies

I hope you are all well?

This is a question for past brides here that had their reception at the palapa. Will it be possible to do the wedding speeches without a microphone?

Our wedding coordinator said that the microphone cuts into the dj time as we will be using his Mike. That means that we may have just 2 hours of dancing

Thanks

Helen

How long is your reception and how long do you have the DJ for?

We had the DJ for the entire length of our reception, so if we had speeches with a microphone or not, we would be cutting into the DJ time as he was there with us the entire 6 hours.

That said, if you don't have the DJ the entire time, and they won't give you a microphone otherwise (which is BS IMO, as the set up of his equipment will be done long before your reception starts) you could probably get by without one. The people would have to talk loudly though for those farthest away from them. Especially if the wind is blowing thru.   You could do it though - just let them know to speak up.      Another thought, if you don't think the speeches will take long, it won't cut into your DJ time (dancing ) all that much, maybe 10-15 mins??

If you don't plan to have the DJ the entire time, I will just give some examples why it may be a good idea.   If you want music for your entrances to the reception, if you want music thru dinner, (I guess) if you want speeches with a mic during dinner, etc.  those may be some reasons to consider having him there the entire time.

Not sure if I helped any.

Sorry I didn't have a catholic ceremony there and we haven't had one who has on the board in awhile, that I am aware of.  Hopefully you can get some answers.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
