I have been in contact with Yeniza and I am trying to book the wedding date.

We arrive April 20th in the early evening. We want to have the wedding on April 22nd because I don't want to spend the entire time stressing! She has recommended to me that we have it on the 23rd but that would mean it would be on the 4th day of our holiday and I want to go on excursions off the resort and have fun but don't want to stress about things happening (example: me falling and getting a cut on my face and ruining my photos!). From past brides experiences do you think it is reasonable timing for me to meet with the planners and make last minutes decisions to get married on April 22nd?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Nicole

Hi NSinyerd,

The only reason it would matter is if you want to do a legal ceremony, other than that I think it is totally up to you! I arrive May 3 and have our ceremony May 6, but ideally I wanted it May 8, so even later. But now that I read your comments, I think you're right, you don't want to stress the whole time. I think the one day would be enough time, but they may be recommending that because of another wedding/commitment they have to a bride during the same time, and may be concerned you won't get enough time to plan with them. Or in case something isn't as planned on the 21st, they have the 22nd to figure out how to resolve that. I think it's totally up to you, if you want if the 22nd then go for it! :)

Hi Sheena,

Who are you using for a photographer? Thanks for the advice

Hi Janette,

You may not respond because you haven't been on here for awhile! But I have a couple of questions or maybe someone else can help answer them!

1) You used the resort photographer? what was the costs and who did you have specifically? I have heard some bad things on here about the resort photographer but your pictures are amazing!

2) I love the star fish in your wedding location decorations and have been wanting something similar. Do they provide these or did you bring your own? If they provided do you remember the costs for the additional decorations/colors, etc? And if you brought them yourselves did you have to pay an extra fee to use them?

You day looked amazing and i really hope ours does too!

Thanks,

Nicole

  • 2 weeks later...

I've looked at the resort photographers website www.fotocaribbean.com.x , and lots of the photos don't look very professional (bad lighting, shadows)  no editing really or creativity. they are nice pictures but you could basically have someone from your wedding group take your pictures and they'd look the same.. and they're super expensive!! That's my opinion anyway.. I'm pretty big on photograpy though, my pictures are top priority lol

And also, I believe the decor you are interested, she brought those with her, I remember reading something about them. I wanted to have the blue sashes for the chairs, but only white fabrics are included (we booked through Transat weddings). they said its $400 pesos (approx $4 canadian) per sash!! So I bought a Lot of 50 from ebay for $25 total..

@Nicole,

There wasn't an additional charge for the resort photographer, we had it included in our package, basically it was just coverage of the wedding and a dozen printed pictures.  Since my sister in law had travelled with us she offered to do our pics, they did show us the prices for purchasing extra photos from the resort, but I can't remember what the cost was.

I took all my own decor with me and there wasn't any extra charges for setting it up.  I gave Elizabeth two large suitcases full of items and a handful of pictures of how I wanted things and they did a great job putting it all together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
