Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Recommended Posts

Hi MJKH,

That you for your reply :-)

There are 16 of us in the group and we have narrowed it down to the Steakhouse, Italian or Mexican,  Just not sure which one had the nicer food?

We would love the Japanese but were concerned people are seated in 12, so decided not to go for that one.

Our reception was at the palapa...while we were there we saw a reception happening at the Brazilian and one at the Italian. Both of these are smaller, more intimate restaurants. We preferred the food at the Italian restaurant...and the menu would appease a wider range of tastes than the Brazilian I would think. The Japanese restaurant was YUMM-O, but I don't know that the set-up is conducive to the mingling that would typically happen at a wedding reception...it's all about the show!

We did the Italian restaurant and the food was amazing (especially the fried cheese -- NOM!). The lasagna was to die for, too. The restaurant was the perfect size for our guest count (41 I think?) and the decor (black and white) was the most neutral of all the restaurants, meaning my decor didn't clash (silly reason, I know!).

Gee, I totally forgot about the Mexican.  We ate there 2X in 2 weeks and the food was good too. The steakhouse is actually one of the poolside buffets during the day (which means that some of your guests may be spending a lot of time in that space)...the food was good but if you want a smaller, more intimate/unique restaurant, I would go with the Italian too.  The black and white decor is very sharp! JMHO...

I am doing my reception at the palapa as well- Claire I'm not sure about pricing out the beach reception but I do know that it's available and they will do it for a large group (I asked for 100 at first) as I initially wanted to do that as well. I saw MJKH's pictures of the palapa and loved it though!

It has been frustrating as I haven't been able to price things out very well as we are so far away and not a priority at this point, but it would be nice to know! I'm also not happy that you can't swap things out of the packages, as there are certain things that I really don't want, but I saw the pictures of the presidential suite and really want that, so we are going with the presidential package. Is anyone closer to their wedding date and actually have more information about pricing?

I also want specialty flowers (blue orchids) but now that you say that it is very overpriced, I'm thinking that will be too much to ask. They also seem to be rare down there, so they would most likely overcharge me a lot for that too.

Hi Marls,

I have been sent pricing informaiton if you let me know your email address I will forward on what they have sent to me.

They have not given me the prices for the flowers though as it appears they are priced individually so once you have selected the ones you would like they will price them up for you.

I've booked my wedding at the Grand Sirenis for January 30, 2013...yay!! This forum has been very helpful so far. The date is approaching really fast and I need some help in making some decisions. I found out that the palapa is already booked for day that I am intending on getting married and I need to choose a location for the wedding ceremony and reception. I would like it all to be as private as possible for us and our 30-35 guests. Ara has said we could have the snack bar for reception and a wedding ceremony on "playa nueva" part of the beach. Does anyone know which part of the beach is considered playa nueva and is it a private part of the beach? If the reception is in the snack bar is it private enough and big enough to comfortably hold the guests inside? Ara has also suggested the yoga space as a back up if there is bad weather. Has anyone seen this place? And pictures would be great, I can't seem to find any pictures of it. We are thinking of going to a restaurant for the reception. Which one would be best for 30-35 guests. Do the guests have to choose from the restaurant menu offered or can we have a set menu? Any information would be helpful!

We had our reception in the Italian restaurant. It was amazing the food was unbelievable the service was fantastic and absolutely no one had any complaints.  We had 36 people in total and the way then set the tables up can be for more or less.  I would definitely do it over in the same restaurant. The only thing I would suggest is if you have younger kids to get the kids food, we only had one young one she was 5 and I thought the lasagna would be ok for her but she wasn't a big fan.  Everyone else loved the food tho and there are some very disconcerning pallets in our group.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
