Majestic & Riu PC Visit

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Just wanted to let everyone know I will be going in a few weeks to check out both Majestic and Riu Palace Punta Cana resorts, so if anyone has anything they would like me to find out for them let me know, I'd be more then happy to find out :)

Also wanted to know if anyone knew of any checklist of questions I can download to take down with me, to be sure to cover all concerns with the wedding coordinators?

If you are doing site visits it is very important to (if you don't speak spanish) take a translated note with you telling the guards your intentions.

Before almost all resorts there are two check points. One is the resort area check point, this area shouldn't give you much trouble although if you do not have a bracelet they may ask you what resort you are at, or will want to look at your itinerary if you are in a taxi.

The actual resort security at the entrance to the resorts are often very tough when you don't have a bracelet for that particular resort. Also, most often these guards do not speak any english.

It will be in your best interest to bring a note in Spanish, saying you are doing a site visit, and if you add one or two employee's contact numbers that will be even better. I have had some long drawn out poor Spanglish discussions with security guards trying to get into resorts where a day pass was waiting for me.

I can tell you right now from past experience, that the guard at the Majestic WILL NOT let you in unless he is given permission by the manager or wedding co-ordinator or someone. If you don't have a band, you will not get through, and he checks everyone. He will look in the vehicle and ask to see your bracelet.

I was getting pictures taken for 2 hours on the resort with a well known photographer. This photographer had asked the manager for permission however the manager forgot to tell the guard. Luckily my Dominican fiance was able to communicate with the guard.

After the guard refused to radio the manager, my fiance had to run to the plaza to buy a phone card so that we could use his cell to call the resort. We had to find the photographer, who had to find the manager, who had to radio the guard. We waited about 1 hour for all of this to get settled. I sat in the heat, ran out of water, watched all the other tourists walk past me staring at me. Luckily my fiance is spanish, otherwise we WOULD NOT have gotten in.

Please set something up with the wedding co-ordinator in advance and tell her to tell the guard to let you in. Good luck. Keep a cell phone handy, as well as phone numbers and don't let your taxi driver take off until you get through the gate.

I wish you luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
