Any Hispanic/Latina brides out there?

Hi Ladies,

I was just curious to know if there are any Hispanic/Latina brides on this forum. Or is your DH or FI a Latino/Hispanic? I thought it would be fun to know how your incorporating your Hispanic/Latino roots in your wedding.

I'm from the Dominican Republic and my FI is Peruvian. So far, all we have in mind to do is having a Spanish ceremony reading read by his cousin and the reception will be for the most part in Spanish.

I'd love to hear what you ladies are doing!

Hello!! My FI, I mean Husband and I are both Mexican, and we had everything done in both Spanish and English. STD, Invitations, and our Ceremony was in both languages too, which was easy since we were married in Mexico. All of our music was selected before hand too, to make sure that it would be appropriate for our group and to make sure the DJ would have it. What else, what else...oh in the OOT bags we put Loteria in there, everyone loved that one.

I think having the ceremony in both languages and having the right music was the biggest thing.

What do you have in mind?...just so I can go, "oh I should have done that!"

Hey! I am Colombian and my FI is Puerto Rican. Our ceremony will be in both Spanish and English. My reception will be about 90% Spanish music. The only tradition we are doing is the Padrinos. Which will be my Uncle and Aunt from Colombia (both FI and I love them soooo much). Oh and my FMIL insists on wearing a blue dress b/c her son is getting married, I have never heard of this. I told her as long as its a nice chade of blue I didn't care.

Has anybody ever heard of choosing Padrinos for your ceremony?

o right...i completely forgot about the music! we will definitely have a spanish palylist - especially since our wedding is in jamaica. i did the month before brochures in spanish and english too. we are also having padrinos, but they are doubling up as maid of honor and best man.

my mom does want to wear a pink dress since i'm getting married, but my color is coral and she'll like a bridesmaid if she does. unfortunately we cannont have the ceemony in Spanish becasue it is in jamaica, but i am trying to think of other ways to incorporate our culture.

FI is Mexican. We are getting married in Mexico more because we want the beach setting but it doubles by allowing his family that still lives there to just drive there and be able to attend if they choose. We'll have the ceremony in Spanish and English. I'm also making signs for shoes optional and I'm going to make another sign in Spanish to go right next to it. We'll also make sure to use a combination of Spanish and English songs to make everyone comfortable. Our first dance song is going to be I Belong to You, You Belong to Me and there is a Spanish/English version so we thought it was fitting.

For our AHR we chose a DJ that is bilingual so that everyone will be comfortable requesting songs for him to play.

It's kinda pointless for me to post, but I'm 1/2 Mexican (my mom is 100% Mexican, my dad is 100% Irish). I'm not incorporating anything in to my ceremony. Both sides of my family are completely assimilated and neither have passed anything from my heritage on to me (my mom taught me a very very little Spanish).

I am Dominican and my FI is African American. Our Ceremony will be in english but our reception will be both. Our first dance will be a salsa and my Father/Daughter dance a bachata. My family is VERY latin, so my battle is not letting them take over I'm trying to incorporate both cultures equally so in honor of his heritage we will jump the broom!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
