I think we were at $14000 with honeymoon and travel so the wedding came in at about $10000 with invites, dress, photog, etc. They say the average US wedding is $25000 so you are still saving money but it's going to cost a bit more than you planned on. I originally thought we could do it all for 10000 but guess not. :)

Our wedding will be up around $10,000 to $13,000 Canadian when all is said and done (20 or so guests). I don't think this is bad though since it includes our travel, photographer, and private reception. To top it all off it includes an at home reception we're having in Feb 2010 for about 75-85 people!

Our actual wedding and reception ran just under $4k ($3820 to be exact). I posted a breakdown in my review thread.

*Here's the link to my thread - my first post breaks down our totals and how we got our invoice down from $9K to $4K* http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t20973

We had 40 people and did a beach reception with a buffett and open bar for 3 hours. Our rehearsal dinner was at one of the restaurants but since we did not privatize the restaurant, there was no charge. They just sat us in a section away from everyone else and it was perfect.

We did our wedding and reception with the "a la carte" pricing instead of using a package and b/c of the # of people we had - it was a lot less expensive than using a package - and it was exactly what we wanted.

Of course, that $8K did not include travel/accomodations/incidentals (dress/invites/OOT bags/etc).

So far we have spent $4,000, this includes our trip for 11 days, reception, invites, favors. Our reception is for 40 people so as long as I don't go over I am guessing we won't spend more than $6,000. I am saving $$ because my BIL does photography as a hobby and he will be taking our pics we will be buying a camera which we will be able to all enjoy at a later time.

Hello Rebecca76,

I see you got married at the Palma Real in June. Congratulations! I am getting married at the Palma Real may 29, 2010. I saw the grand total for your ceremony and reception was 9.600. This is very close to our budget. How did you manage to stay in that range, while looking at the Romance Calculator I became a bit overwhelm at the choices and a little worried we werent going to be able to stick to our budget.

Any suggestions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
