Hi!

 

I was wondering if there was anyone out there still who has used the Chuppah for a beach ceremony instead of the beach gazebo? My ceremony is booked for 4pm, and I have read that it's not very sunny over the gazebo at that time, so I was wondering about how practical it would be to pop the chuppah up somewhere sunny!

 

Anyone do this? And in terms of the chuppah, have you even seen it done? was it nice? I think I might be the only bride on here who is not really into the beach gazebo, but maybe pictures just don't do it justice!

I know what you mean. The gazebo is naturally picturesque requiring minimal decorations but it doesn't always work in all cases. I, personally, would prefer a chuppah or an arch on the beach. I think it is one of those things where you would have to see pictures. I have on from the Iberostar so you can get a sense.

I was just at the ROR for our wedding on June 20. The chuppa was set up right next to the beach gazebo when we were there. We were the only wedding on the beach that day and it was at 4pm. The sun was out and it was beautiful! I did not have a chance to see the wedding or weddings that used the chuppa. But it still looked nice. Once I get around to posting my review and pictures you can see where it is located.

There were a few ROR brides who did use the Chuppah/arch. You'd probably have to go & browse thru some older ROR reviews to find other pics.
My ceremony was at 4pm and as far as I can remember there was plenty of sun. If I remember correctly, the sun tends to go down I'd say at least around 6ish. If you take a look at my non-pro & pro pics, you'll see that it was sunny at 4ish, but you should be able to see the progression of the sun setting through some pics. It didn't really get dark though until we were at our reception at Mammee Bay which started at 6:30.

Remember, your ceremony is only going to last about 20 mins, so that should leave you plenty of time for sunny pics!

Anyway, here's the arch as I had it decorated. The only thing I didn't like was that there weren't enough flowers in the colors that I wanted. It was greener than I actually envisioned but once I walked down the aisle, there wasn't anything I could do about it. So if you want more flowers used on top of the arch, make sure you let Chandlyn know or bring an inspiration picture.

Now that I'm posting these pics, I do notice the shade in the pic above. But keep in mind that the pic above & below isn't a pro-pic. Its a picture that a guest took with a regular camera. There's more shade in this one too but there's still a great deal of sun & since there are palm tree's in this area, there's bound to be some amount of shade.

Thanks SO much for the pics/info justustwo! Can you tell me how much your flower decorations for the chuppah cost? (I know it will be different, depending), but I'm just wondering how much extra it was in total to have the chuppah.

I think the arch with those flowers & the tulle was about $400 or so. And the 2 standing floral arrangements were about $80-$85 a piece. Initially I thought it was all a bit pricey but its what I reallllllly wanted! And all of the flowers did double duty because they were used at my reception so I guess it does pay off.

I've found a lot of different ways to do the chuppah. You can prob look at wedding photos from anywhere in hawaii to see different ways to set them up. You an also have it extend to cover your guests so the guests are not in the sun.

Lastly, I knew there was a former ROR bride who had a beautiful chuppah for her wedding. She had colored fabric draped across the top. Like I said, I thought it was beautiful. I couldn't remember who it was but luckily I bookmarked her thread. It was Neema:

When you go into her thread, you'll see that she has a link to her photographer's site to view her wedding gallery. When I tried to look at her gallery it said that the password was incorrect. I'm thinking that since her wedding was last year, her gallery must have expired. Luckily, a picture of her on the beach, standing under her chuppah, is featured on the photog's site. When you go to the photog's site, click on Weddings. Then on the bottom, scroll to picture #8 and that is Neema's ceremony set up. Other BDW brides have used this particular photog so you'll also see other Jamaica & ROR brides in his slideshow & there is a picture of the beach gazebo there as well.

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners.
