MIL issues/deposit question

Lol I had no idea you could walk to Feast of Lele from Olowalu. Well, we were stuck choosing b/w Feast & Old Lahaina. We've never been to either as well so I just researched between the two. In the end we choose it b/c it's right on the water and they have one of the last authentic luaus, which I think will be romantic. But that's definitely not to take away from Feast b/c I've heard so many great things about it too. It was a hard choice!

Maui is awesome and welcome to this forum. The BDW Forum was such a wonderful resource for me last year.

Anyway, we had our wedding in Maui last year. Check out my OLDER posts from if you need additional advice or reviews. Also, here's the link to our wedding planning site from last year to give you additional ideas.

Your wedding will be beautiful! Good luck.

I totally agree with jstinemari, your planning site is awesome!!!! We have a website too, but it's not quite a planning site (made more for visitors so they can RSVP and read up on the wedding etc).

jstinemari: Sorry to rehash, but I was curious if things have settled yet with your MIL? If she's going to be stubborn, then yes you should ignore her and have your day. But I can understand why you've been unsettled about it.

I had another thought...I wonder if we can SHARE sites. If two brides have their wedding on the same day and agree to share (one in the day, the other at night)...why couldn't we split the cost? It's just a thought. For example, renting the Olowalu can be up $3000. If you are using it just for the day, couldn't someone else rent it for their evening wedding/night reception?!?! Hmmmmmmmm.

FMIL IS unpleasable! that is her in a nut shell. As of now she's not coming. The other day I went to try on wedding gowns and she asked FI where i was, when he told her she said "good for her" lol. whatever i was upset about it, but i'm over it.. she's just plain rude and we're not letting her spoil our wedding. Maybe she'll cave in and come but i just dont care anymore :)

Huey- that's a great idea! i dont know if the management would allow that... but it's something i'd be interested in doing. We've already paid the deposit but maybe someone else would be interested ? you should look into that

It does seem like a lot of brides use these private estates just for ceremony or just for the dinner. Would be so nice to share a place (and the cost!) and allow two brides to have their dream location AND date! I'm not sure how we could go about advertising it to other brides. It's sort of like subletting, which is legal as far as I know... cheesy.gif

Any luck finding a dress? Hopefully despite all the negativity from FMIL, your dress shopping was still fun!!

yes! thanks for asking. i found gorgeous ellie saab for pronovias gown. It's at the salon still but I havent been able to steal any pics yet. I guess the designer doesnt allow pictures to be taken of their dresses. Next time i go i'm going to try again to get a picture of me wearing it, hopefully they'll let me since it's paid for now. I'll post pics when i can

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
