Tara -

Thanks for the email with the additional reception pictures. I had not seen the El Tapito, Mexican Restaurant or the Beach reception pics. Very helpful. I was perusing the site this morning and noticed your question earlier this month about rates. My TA was able to secure the following rates at the Maya - not including airfare - for our guests:

3 nights - $405
4 nights - $532
5 nights - $655
7 nights - $910 (All based upon double occupancy)

$1329 seems really high. My fiance and I are staying for 9 nights (at the Maya which is the pricier of the 4 hotels, aside from the Grand) and we are paying $1150 a piece. This stuff makes my head hurt.

Hi Ladies!

I am going to be an Iberostar Del Mar bride on April 16, 2011. I've been reading all your posts and thought I'd join in. Although I'm not really sure how this works haha. I'm working with Karla and things have been good so far. I booked Citilalli Rico out of Claudia Rodriquez photography, which I'm really excited about. Also we have the Italian restaurant reserved for our reception. I'm in the middle of booking Doremixx for our DJ. I'm discussing prices now. I'm trying to figure out if they allow the cold fireworks at the resort. I did save the date luggage tags and they should be in the mail within the week!! Not really sure what else I should be doing?? Any suggestions?? I'm starting to get really stressed about organizing the traveling info for everyone. Rates just came out for next year and they are a lot higher than I expected sad.gif. I'm freaking out a little!!!

Finleys7: Your wedding review was awesome and SO helpful!!!!

Hopefully I am posting this right haha

Nucci - I am glad it helped. If you have any questions, feel free to fire away.

We completely forgot about the cold fireworks...which was fine because the night flew by...I forgot to do a lot of things I had wanted to , but it was all in all WONDERFUL.

Who are you using for your TA?

Finleys7- I can only imagine how exciting and easy to forget about things on the big day. We had originally met with a TA from Liberty Travel. She is the one that gave us some suggestions on resorts and how we finally picked the Iberostar. We met again with her 2 weeks ago since rates recently came out and I just didn't get a good vibe. She quoted us a ridiculous amount and didn't seem like she was going to work hard to get us the best price. We started working with a new TA, but she hasn't gotten back to me about rates yet. She seems really nice though, and hopefully the rates drop b/c I'm really worried right now.

huh.gif: I'm not very tech savy...how do I know when someone writes back to me? Or do I just have to keep checking in to see if someone wrote?

Thanks!

Finally made some final decisions and arrangements between working with Mayra and Lily....

5:30 ceremony on the beach...

Trolly will bring people to the Maya lobby 'snake' bar for some coctails while we do pictures...

7:30 dinner at the Steakhouse!

Also 8:30 Rehearsal/group dinner the night before at the Italian Restuarant.

I'm keeping centerpieces very simple and bringing a few turquoise candles in my suitcase with these pearl/silver type things that go around the base of the candle.

I'm glad we at least got that accomplished! a little over 6 weeks...I do not feel ready!

also had my dress fitting and it cost an arm and a leg for the alterations. need it taken in a bunch which is a good thing! Now I have to make sure it will still fit 6 weeks from now.

Amy- Congrats on making some of your final decisions and having to get your dress taken in!! Thats always a good feeling :) I'm sure everything else will come together as it gets closer.

Shannon- If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for Doremixx? I heard back from Karla @ Iberostar over the weekend and she was a little uneasy about the smoke machine and cold fireworks. Just wondering if they'll drop the price since we won't be having these items, which are in the package.

It was $650 for the 4 hours. Those other things were included but we didn't use them, nor did I try and get money back. For what I would have paid in the states...it was sooo worth it. He did balloons and that was a hit, even though I didn't want any of it...but it really was a hit =)

Amy - I am sure it feels great to get things done. It sounds like a lot more is going into your AHR, so it will be perfect! Nice and relaxing for Mexico =)

The Maya lobby bar is very nice and air conditioned =) Big Plus there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
