We actually saw a reception taking place on the beach when we were down there this summer. When I asked the WC about it she said it was not an option. I didn't question it too much because we really like the Italian Restaurant. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Hope everyone's planning is going well! We just sent out our invites, so I'll have to take pictures and post them sometime soon. Just been sooo busy!!

Thanks, girls, for your input. The buffet could be a dealbreaker for us too. We booked our site visit for July 26-29, so we'll hammer out all the details then. So excited to finally see it in July!

Funny, they didn't send me photos of the Italian as an option -- only Cajun, beach party, and two conference rooms.

Do any of you girls have photos of the Italian? Is it open air?

Hi Shannon - Things are going great! We just got back from Jamaica, which made me realize how happy I am that we chose Riviera Maya. It wasn't bad, but Riviera Maya is just so much prettier. So now I'm working on all the last minute details like gifts, welcome bags, information packets, etc.

Tara - The Italian restaurant is only available at the Del Mar/Beach. I don't think the Lindo has an open air restaurant that you can use for a private event. It's great to hear though that they actually have a private option now. When we began planning the Lindo didn't have that option, which is why we went with the Del Mar.

Hi,

Sorry to butt in-I just joined BDW and read your post about the ipod/DJ etc. do you know if children can be at the pool bar? We are a small group (16 incl. kids) and don't want to rent a private area or a DJ, but really would like to dance a celebrate in one of the public areas and have our own music. I don't seem to be getting anywhere when I ask Mayra via email.

We are getting married at the Lindo on April 25th

She seemed to get frustrated with my questions and told me she would e-mail me the packages. I was surprised that she was less than friendly. Everyone has said what great WCs they have there. Anyway, I was supposed to get the packages e-mailed to me so I can give the 25% down, and I have yet to receive them, I think she may have spelled my e-mail address wrong. Does anyone have an e-mail address for the WC at the Tucan that I can use? I really need to put my deposit down and I need to contact them. Also, does anyone know if Connie is the WC at the Tucan or who it is and if they are pleasant and do a good job? Thanks!!!!

Hey Caitlin,
Sorry you're having trouble! I was just married at the Tucan in January, and Gabriella was my WC. The email for the Tucan's WC is:

[email protected]

I know planning can be stressful, but Gabriella (& everyone) I worked with the the Tucan was amazing & they really went above & beyond to make our wedding beautiful. Best of luck!

Hi Aimee,
Thanks for the advice. I did e-mail Gabriela, but she told me that sales is now taking care of the wedding booking/packages. She forwarded my e-mail to them, and they still have not gotten back to me. I did call once again today and they told me that they will e-mail me the packages as soon as possible. I guess it is just taking a while. Hope we can get our date or we will have to start the search for another resort! My cousin was married there back in 2005 and LOVED it, so we thought we all the great reviews we would get married there too, lets just see if I can even book it, I guess! Thank so much for the advice though.
Did you have a good experience at the Tucan? Any advice? Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
