Gogo travel will do 'group' rates, but all means is if you book 10 rooms, you are guaranteed to be placed in the hotel you booked in the event that the hotel is overbooked. Unfortunately, there are no group rate discounts at the Iberostar which really stinks. I'm not sure of the prices at the grand, but I use Cheap Caribbean as my low price guide. Gogo travel will match any other price you find if it from a reliable site.
I booked my Mexico trip last year with Cheap carribean and it was absolutely perfect, no issues! So, while I too plan to book with gogo through my TA, check online on other sites to compare prices.

We were going to book as a group through Apple Vacation, but decided not to because we wanted our guests to have the option to buy insurance. With the group rate you can only get insurance for illness related cancelations. If you book individually you can get insurance that is completely cash back and you can get the price adjustment if the price goes down. I think our guests really appreciated this.

This was just the information our travel agent gave us so maybe other tour companies work differently.

Hi Bride2b10!
We are getting married at the Grand too. We decided to offer our guests the option of a room at the Maya (the hotel right next to the Grand and less expensive) or a room at the Grand.

We were told by the Grand WC that guests staying at the Maya will need to have a guest pass to come to the Grand for the wedding. The cost is $70 for a night pass for Iberostar guests (if your wedding is at like 4 or so, that would cover it) and $100 or so for a day pass (if your guests or bridesmaids, etc. are staying at the Maya and decide to come over earlier). The cost is higher for guests staying at non-Iberostar hotels.

We are picking up that cost for our guests. And she said we'll have to give her a list of guests coming from the other hotel and they'll get different wristbands for that night.

We debated having our wedding at the Maya but just loved the Grand location of the beach ceremony and the LaBrisa resaurant for our reception so we just decided to do it there.

Hope that helps!

Gogo's insurance prices are good- Also gogo will reduce the price of your land/hotel if it goes on sale during your dates..and if you have not paid in full, Apple will not.

Ok, so now I'm freaking out because I've emailed the WC's twice asking whether I could book at the Lindo instead of the Maya because I"m GUESSING that there is only one wedding per day at the LINDO/MAYA complex.....so she never answered...and now my deposit and booking have gone through....and she still hasn't answered! ugh...

I will say also I'm staying in Cancun at the Royal after the wedding and its so fabulous. so classy and upscale and much smaller and intimate. We got a regular room at the Lindo and we're getting an oceanfront at the royal and its gorgeous! I just hope that Lily or someone writes me soon cause if I have screwed up then I'm in trouble!

Do you have the international number, perhaps you can call? I am sure someone will get back to you.

And yes only one per resort and I think that applies for Del Mar/Beach, Lindo/Maya and the Grand.

I won't worry, I am sure you are fine =)

Congrats on booking...doesn't it feel great.

The airfare home on Monday for most of the guest is $240 one way on Jet Blue...Boooo, $134 down and $240 returning. I was praying for under $300. But FI's parents are doing Tuesday to Tuesday and the airfare is $277 round trip. =) Awesome for them !!!.

Hello Everyone,

I am also getting married at the Iberostar Lindo on June 12, 2010. We are staying there from the 10th-19th. I am excited to hear ideas and such from other brides. Has Lily contacted any of you besides the initial reservation of the date? I have e-mailed her, and she takes a while to get back. I know we are not supposed to do any planning until 3 months before, but I have questions I would like answered. I am getting excited!

Welcome Britt! Thats a few weeks before me!

Well Shannon and LDeeken- she still hasn't gotten back to me and I've written twice! I'm trying not to worry about it. When it came down to it, it seemed silly to pay almost $300 extra a night for the Maya when the Lindo shares all the same facilities...

Shannon I hear you about the flights. Ours came out to $398 round trip, so that wasn't too great but not terrible! that picture from your engagement shoot is awesome!

Thanks Amy, I can't wait for the proofs =)

We might do a holiday card through shutterfly if we like one =)

I hope she gets back to you soon.

Anyone a little nervous about the flowers. I just really want them everywhere and large centerpieces and the flower pictures they sent were small and eh. Thoughtshuh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
