Ok,

Well as for the restaurants we did get to eat at one every night. You only get a certain number for the number of nights you stay but you can get around it. Greg and I stayed 3 nights so were only allowed one but used them all three nights. You have to make the one you are alotted the day before or by noon the day of the reservation. However, at 4:00 you can call down to the customer service desk or go down to the desk and ask if they have any openings for that night. They usually do and then they will give it to you. We ate at the Brazilian, Mexican, and the Japanese and they were all good. However, the Japanese was by far the best.

As for photography I am using a friend and they did not have a problem with that. When you go talk to Reyna about it and she will clue you in. I had a list of question before I went and then she drove us in the golf cart to look at our options. Many of the questions I had were answered here on the forum however, I did not find the forum until I returned. You will pay for the entire wedding when you arrive at the resort. Also you want to stay in building 12, 11 on the Del Mar side. I will have to look at the Beach side to tell you those. Also, if you send her a list of names of the people that have booked a trip she will try to get you all in one building.

I have to go now but will keep in touch. Talk to you soon

Thanks so much girls! I was actually wondering about the ala carte restaurants. That is good to know that you can still make reservations even if you don't have a coupon.

Amyrot - I would definitely try the other forum, there may be some people on there who could help you. Otherwise, I wonder if the WC at the Maya has an samples she could send you. Just a thought!

I have a lot of questions and things I'm thinking about and contemplating. I just finished my STD's and I was GOING to get 'special' stamps.....but since they are practically $1.00 apiece...I will be getting regular old stamps. I can't spend money on stuff that will end up in the trash.
I may be going to look at dresses tomorrow so I'm very excited.....
Dress shopping is so much fun...how did you dohuh.gif

I agree about the stamps, people throw the envelope out anways...so save the money and put it towards the invitations...

What kind of STD's did you do?

Mandee - So glad to hear you had a nice visit! We are going down there at the end of this month and I'm anxious to meet with Reyna. What did you think of her in person. She seems very nice over email and has actually gotten back to me pretty quickly, compared to what other brides have said.

Any advice for what to bring to the meeting? I really want to make the most of meeting with her in person.

Also, when you were at the Del Mar were you able to eat an an ala carte each night? I feel like I haven't gotten an accurate answer on how that works.

Look forward to planning with all of you =) Leah
Leah, I was at the resort in June and was upgraded to the Lindo because of the Del Mar being closed. Here is my understanding of the reservations:

At the Lindo/Maya you have access to make reservations EVERY night upon availability.

At the Del Mar/Beach it depends on the length of time you stay BUT you can wait-list everyday if you like.

We stayed 4 nights, made 1 reservation and wait-listed 2 other nights and did the buffet once when I stayed at the Tucan a year ago. This past trip was my 6th trip to an Iberostar and my second to the Paraiso Complex. The Del Mar/Beach operate the same as the Tucan in terms of dinner reservations.

If that was just mumbo jumbo and completely unclear...let me know I am will try again =)

Amy,

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, the pictures are the memories that NEVER fade and having good picture are really important to us, that’s why we decided on Claudia Rodriguez. She’s pricey but worth it.

Cancun Photography is a lot cheaper; you may want to look into them. My friend is a photographer and he looked at the packages the hotel sent over, and they bang you for every picture over your allotted amount.

Here is the website with samples, but I have seen other samples and they weren't good...they looked like your average photo.

I have the prices too for all three if you need them to compare.

Here is an excel sheet I put together...

Thank you so much for the spreadsheet but I don't have enough points to open it! sad.gif
I know my fiance is opposed to any extra spending - like I know he will freak at the $300 fine. I do still want to compare prices though because maybe I can negotiate it with him! lol...
I hope I can get some points here so I can open that!

Ladies,

This is so great that we can all talk like this. I can just hear people getting bored with me. I got my dress in April and it is coming in just a few weeks. I can not wait to put it on again. I also just sent out my Save-the-Dates. I did passports and spent a lot of time on them. I have gotten rave reviews. I did do the custom stamps but I do not know if I will do them for my invitations. I have a friend coming that is a photographer and that is saving me a ton of money. Is anyone putting beach bags in the rooms?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
