Oh my gosh Emmers and Shannon, I can't believe your wedding are finally here!! I am so excited for the two of you!!! I wish we were getting married a little earlier, we could all celebrate together!!

Ursula, it does kind of depend on which resort you choose. At the Del Mar there is a wedding gazebo and an open air restaurant near the pool where you can have a private reception. That is what we are doing. Here are links to 2 videos that I put on youtube. We took these during our visit last summer. Hopefully they will help you at least get an idea of what those 2 venues look like.

Good Luck and keep us posted on what you decide!

Hi all-

So I'm thinking about possibly moving our reception to the Del Mar because I love the Italian for private reception. The problem is that I paid my deposit and reserved the date through the Lindo. Is it a big deal to change this? Anyone personally do this?

Another plus is then guests on a budget can stay at the Del Mar/Beach and not have to pay the guest pass to go to the wedding at the Lindo.

I think the WC at Lindo had wrote in a past email that the Bride & Groom must stay at the resort where the reception will take place? Is this true or can we still stay at the Lindo and have our reception at the Del Mar?

That is why we decided to have our wedding at the Del Mar. We loved the Italian restaurant and wanted to have our private reception there. We didn't have to put down a deposit, so I don't know what their policy is on switching.

My fiance and I are staying at the Lindo and getting married at the Del Mar. The WC told us it was not a problem. We also liked the fact that our guests had more of a choice of where to stay. In fact the majority of our guests are staying at the Del Mar.

We did just book the Presidential Suite at the Del Mar for the Day/Night of the wedding for $300. Since most of our guests are staying at the Del Mar and I wanted the girls to have a bigger room to get ready in, we thought this would be perfect! It is right by the Italian restaurant too, so if we need to go back for touch ups or something we are close. Just something to think about!

Shannon-What did you do about choosing an entree for each guest? Karla wants us to have each guest choose either a fish or meat. We already sent out the invites and didn't include this. I was thinking of just contacting everyone individually but I didn't know if that was tacky. Also, which meat did you choose? We can't decide. I don't eat meat so I don't really care, but just wanted another opinion. 1 more week!!!!

Yeah the deposit it seems is new for 2011. I have an email in to mayra so we'll see what she says about switching. What stinks is that my site visit isn't until July 26 so I won't get to actually see the venues till then, but I'd like to get our STD packets out next month, which will include all resort/booking info. *sigh* Decisions, decisions. . .

Thanks for the tip about the Presidential Suite. I will definitely do that if we go this route!

LDeeken-

So I just talked to Reyna and good news, they have no issue with me transferring the deposit over to the Del Mar, as long as our date is still available. Still waiting on that.

She did say that since the Del Mar is different managment than Lindo, we have to book everything through the Del Mar's coordinators. Stinks because I developed a good relationship with Mayra. She's so sweet.

How have you found the WC's to be at Del Mar?

Good luck girls! You will love Iberostar! We had such a great experience. BTW- we didn't do a cocktail party, we let guests go back to their room to freshen up or go to one of the bars while we took pics and then met up for the reception. Everyone thought that was great because they were hot from sitting at the beach. Good luck!!

That's great! Hopefully your date will still be available!! The WC's are great!! I have worked with Reyna and now Karla and they have both been wonderful. We met Reyna last summer when we were down there and she was so helpful!! I am so happy we chose the Del Mar. I guess you might need to change your user name to DelMarBride, huh??

Shannon - 1 week from today you will be getting married!! Can you believe it!! Time sure does fly!! Have fun this week, I'll be thinking about ya!!

Hi ladies! I finally decided that we're going to go with the Del Mar for June 25, 2011 :) For the past three months, we kept going back & forth between Iberostar and Moon Palace. I have my TA contacting the wedding department to get our date booked, assuming no one has already booked that date.

I cannot thank all of you enough for your posts - it really helped me make the decision in the end!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
