Emmers - we are using Claudia Rodriguez for photography and her husband for video. They have great reviews and have been soooo easy to work with.

Leah - Good luck with the invites, I look forward to seeing them =)

Hi Ladies!!

Wow! I am so glad I found this! I have so many questions. My fiance and I are looking at the Iberostar Lindo for a July 30th wedding. Here are my questions:

1. Did you have a private dinner or were you stuck in with other guests at the a la carte restaurants?

2. Did you have a private reception or were you stuck in the "disco" with all the other guests? (see a pattern here :-) )

3. Were there a TON of people sitting there in their bikinis watching you say "I do"?

I have a ton more questions but those are the "Top 3", so lets stick with those for now.

Thanks so much ladies and CONGRATS to all of you on your recent/upcoming weddings!

Welcome Holly!!

If having a Private event is important to you, you might consider looking at the Iberostar Del Mar. They have a restaurant that you can use for $800 where you can have both your dinner and a reception. That was VERY important to us as well which is why we chose the Del Mar.

I'm not sure about the beach as we have not gotten married yet. We are actually getting married at the Gazebo at the Del Mar which is very private.

Hope that helps you out. Feel free to ask questions, we are all happy to help!!

Leah =)

Holly -

1. Did you have a private dinner or were you stuck in with other guests at the a la carte restaurants?

It depends on how many people you are having. We are having 65-70 so we rented the private reception. Plus we wanted the traditional feel of the wedding since we aren't having an AHR

2. Did you have a private reception or were you stuck in the "disco" with all the other guests? (see a pattern here :-) )

see above

3. Were there a TON of people sitting there in their bikinis watching you say "I do"?

We are doing the Chapel, because of the tons of people. It didn't feel private enough for us (we went down for a site visit last June)

Hi Holly and welcome to the thread!

We are doing a very similar style to the Finleys:

(1) Private Dinner at the Italian Restaurant a the Del Mar/Beach, which as has been mentioned, can be rented for $800 + a per head fee. Also to note, if you upgrade your wedding package, it includes the fee. We just found this out when inquiring.

(2) Same as number 1. We are renting the restaurant out to function as the reception location with the meal and music, etc. like a traditional reception. Then as that wraps up, if everyone wants to head over to the disco, we'll go, too, but we do not intend to rent it out. You can, however, rent out the disco for a per head fee.

(3) Fingers crossed that is not the case, but I guess it comes with the territory. I have seen some of the video footage from other weddings and it still looks like they do their best to keep it an intimate setting, but we are not going to be naive about it either - we expect to see other vacationers there, but I trust they will respect the ceremony going on. Even though there are other more exclusive locations to have the ceremony at the Iberostar, we 100% wanted the beach, even at the risk of other vacationers watching.

Hi and welcome! I think given that you are at a vacation destination...there will definitely be people around! I guess it wasn't as important to me, and financially I could not afford the private rentals as we are doing a huge AHR and paying for every nickle for everything ourselves! I will say that I've been to the Del Mar and the gazebo is very private. The gazebo at the Lindo/Maya is not really a gazebo at all, nor very pretty. Shannon is having hers at the chapel which will be very pretty. I'm opting for the beach because thats the whole reason I'm going!

Ladies...have so much to do for AHR! Little things,...driving me crazy!

I also played around w/vista print. I made some nice letterhead that I'll print welcome letters on...I designed some double sided business cards that I'll use for luggage tags...and I also designed a postcard for people to write their favorite Mexico memory on..and mail to us when we get home! I also have to do another round of invitations for my AHR...could not fit all the info in one standard invite.

you guys know I have to do that placecard BS....well, I am just getting plain old ones that fold and my mom's going to write on them.

I'm doing some awesome sand dollars for the one at home! I hope it all comes together!

does anyone know where to find some clear, HARD plastic luggage tag cases?

Hey, any thoughts about what the groomsmen (all 3 of em!) should wear?

We ended up getting the FI the following jacket and matching pants:

John W. Nordstrom® Two Button Linen Sportcoat - - Nordstrom

It was a little more than we originally planned on spending (though it came with free alterations) but it's something he'll get more use out of - he won't be wearing this for the TTD!

We're leaning towards going with ivory cubavera shirts and natural linen pants for the groomsmen. The FI had suggested white shirts, but my dress isn't diamond white (he hasn't seen it), so I had to step in and nix that idea.

Here is what we're leaning towards:

Natural - Linen Pants Linen Trousers Pants [] - $46.00 : Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits

Linen Rayon Blend Destination Wedding Shirt for men.: Beach Wedding Shirts | Guayaberas, Linen Pants, Boys Linen Shirts, Mexican Wedding Shirts.

Let me know what you think - we have to pull the trigger sooner or later!

PS - The bridesmaids will be wearing bright blue.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
