Very impressive response from the SIL's husband...so obviously she'll give in if EVERYone else goes!! She sounds like the type that wouldn't want to miss out...lol...

Glad you decided to go through with it. We are actually planning our entire wedding before we tell anyone, to avoid this exact problem. FH and I know what we want, and although it may seem selfish I really don't want anyone's opinion weighing down our decisions. We're doing our site visit in October - telling everyone it's just a vacation in cabo and then having a big party when we get back to announce it all. That way everything is booked just as WE want it to be. If anyone is against that, they just won't be joining us in cabo...I think what is most important is that you have the wedding of YOUR dreams!

This sounds like a perfect way to do it!! It took me almost a year to actually book our resort because everyone kept putting their .02 in and I was worried about making everyone else happy. "The flight is too long...not everyone has a passport...the kids are in school and we can't take vacation then....it's too expensive...there aren't any non-stop flights available...that resort doesn't have enough to do for the kids" ....and on and on it goes. So finally I realized that I wasn't going to be able to make everyone happy and there were going to have to be some compromises made. I was flexible and made some compromises, but I also expect my family to make compromises as well. This is our wedding - NOT theirs. I did the best I could to find a resort that I liked, but also considered the needs of our guests as well. And hopefully that's enough to keep the peace in our families.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
