My fiance and I have to have two AHR since he's from Canada and i'm from the US (Colorado). His parents are planning the one there and nobody from my family has offered to host the one here so it's left to us. We just moved to Louisiana. Obviously i'm not going to plan a reception in LA where nobody lives and would have to travel to. I've been thinking about how to plan the reception in CO and joked around about having it at Dave & Busters (an adult-type bar and arcade, Dave & Buster's Restaurant, Bar and Arcade for Family Fun, Parties, Meetings and More!) This way, they do the cooking, set-up, cleaning, it's informal, fun and entertainment is provided. They can do groups for as little as $25 a person including a $15 game card for each person (buffet).

Do you think this would be a fun reception to attend or would it be tacky?

I guess it depends on your guests. If you have a lot of older family members, they might not go for it.

Yeah, it's mostly because we don't want to spend a lot of money on it. But also because I don't want to have to do all the planning something more formal would require from such a distance!

That's true. I don't think we would have a TON of older people or people I think wouldn't enjoy it. My grandparents will be grouchy no matter what so I don't really care there, everybody else might as well have a good time!!

If it works for you, then go for it.

I think it would be a ton of fun!! I am a bit unconventional so it would be perfect to me.

I think it sounds great. That would be one AHR my husband would actually enjoy.

That sounds pretty fun. I know that Kendra off The Girls Next Door had her rehearsal at D&B!
