My first vent!

Recommended Posts

So I planned my wedding for a weekend in Vegas when there weren't any big conventions, no holidays, etc. so that people would have an easy time booking and it wouldn't be crazy expensive... well fast forward to today. Floyd Mayweather had a fight scheduled for July 18th but he bruised his ribs or something so now he moved the fight to SEPTEMBER 19th!! My wedding day!! I am sooo mad right now! Vegas is going to be a madhouse! Traffic is going to be crazy so getting from my ceremony location at the Flamingo to the reception at Mandalay Bay is going to take extra long! And then there's the hotel situation. I'm sure things are going to be sold out soon and prices are going to go up. I'm just so upset because there's nothing I can do about this!

I've been so laid back during this process but this just takes the cake! I can't stand it.

I hope it all works out for you I would just tell everyone to hurry up and book. Vegas is suffering big time from this economy, and the deals right now are amazing. I don't think the two hotels are terribly far from each other either, so hopefully you won't be too held up traveling between the two. Good luck!

Oh No! I too would be doubly upset as well. I agree deals are very good right now, so just feel out your guests. As long as they lock something in knowing they definitely are going, you will be fine. Don't stress too much. It totally is not worth the added physical fallouts due to too much stress.

How many of your guests have already made their arrangements?
We have 5 that have booked and a total of 11 that have RSVPed ""yes" so far but FI has 10 groomsmen so I'm sure they are all coming too. I sent an email to everyone encoraging them to at least reserve their rooms so I hope they do!

Good thing there is still time, just let everyone know what the situation is and get them to book, after that don't stress about it, your guests will have to figure it out. At least you found out early and not last minute so now you can just plan accordingly. Just to reiterate what GinalynL said, can you or have you blocked rooms at the Hotel? Even if they only block for a few weeks at least it will give your guests a chance to reserve.

We were planning to go to Vegas that weekend and we were comped rooms through July. We just called last night and many of the hotels are willing to extend it through Sept. I think they are hurting and I'm not sure the fight will make ALL of the rooms fill up that quick. So I'm hopeful for you! Fingers crossed, but don't panic yet. I bet it will all work out!

It's easier said than done, I know, but you can't stress about travel plans that you cannot control. All you can do is pass the info along and if they choose to wait and book....so be it! As long as you have your trip already booked, that's all that matters!

My brother just got married in Vegas 3 weeks ago at Manalay Bay, ironically....and Vegas is seriously hurting! We couldn't find an open club on a Thursday night if that tells you anything and the casinos were EMPTY! I've never seen Vegas so "quiet". But even with that, there was still traffic! You'll need to account for that with or without something big in town. Luckily, the Flamingo and Mandalay aren't that far away from each other.

I may live under a rock, but I've never heard of the person doing the flight you're talking about. (I'm about to google him!) I can't imagine your guests will have problems getting a room because of it.

It'll all be fine!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
