i still hope there will be some entertainment at the pool (loud side) that will be fun and engaging for my guests. I don't want to just lay at the pool all day because I get bored really easily.

A little party atmosphere wouldn't be bad. I just don't need people screaming constantly and taking body shots off of each other.

I love beach volleyball, and other games during the day on the beach or by the pool.

What about the Caribe side? Is the pool much more exciting over there?

I haven't stayed at either hotel yet, and didn't go down for a site visit. I'm pretty sure Royal is tamer but still super fun. I am hoping Caribe won't be crazy with kids cause my parents are staying there.

Sorry to hear that you can't use the lanterns anymore.

I am currently arguing with my WC about outside vendor fee. I am broadcasting my wedding over the internet, and the service is only going to be done on the beach for 1 hour. So, she is forcing me to pay a $350 vendor fee for 1 hour, on a public beach! Ridicilous.

If you're interested in doing the same....I am using http://www.cancunliveweddings.com. But good luck dealing with the WC on the fees.

Hey ladies My wedding is May 19 2012 and its getting close!!! I am currently  filling out my check list so we have a better thought on what the costs will be....Are any of you picking a package or going el la carte? We picked the luxury wedding but can go to the lower one if needed by budget....Any one know of a fabric store or any store i can go to to get smaller things i dont want to bring in my bags (bows for chairs, sunblock for the girls gift bags)  Debating on so much and its getting reealllly close!

How exciting! You're getting married a month before I do. I picked a classic wedding and adding on top of it. I felt that the other packages had too many items in it that i wasn't going to need, and it made sense to just add it.

I have no idea if there is a fabric store near by, but why don't you just ask one of your bridesmaids to bring them and share the "load" so you don't have to run errands and worry when you're there.

So are you taking that route and bringing decorations on your own? I haven't even thought about that, I guess i'll just have "naked" chairs.

Who are you working with? I feel like I don't know what all my options are in regards to decorations, or the "look" of the wedding. Besides, food, flowers and location, no one has asked me anything else. The joys of planning a destination wedding.

Just a heads up ladies....there is NO music or anything else at Royal in pool area....it is a resort really designed more for older or young couples who simply want a very quiet and peaceful time by themselves.  It is beautiful and not one complaint - just know what you are going to get.  Gran Caribe is just a lot more inclusive to a big wedding party.....meaning that NO there are no body shots or crazy drunk people running around - simply some music around pool and a few games.  Gran Caribe is not a spring breaker type of resort - just in my thinking - more what fits for all your guests flying in for a a good and relaxed time.  The Royal really caters top notch to couples only - not big parties of people or people wanting to all get together and have fun  My thoughts only after being at both resorts ladies.

We were there from December 13th - 22nd - it is an awesome resort - every wedding party is different - you will know what your wedding group needs and all I can say is both resorts are great and you will not be disappointed in either.  You might also read on Tripadvisor the reviews - helped us out alot - and when we saw guests from The Royal went to the Gran Caribe for a little more lively atmosphere........ for our party that suited us best.....again it really depends on who will be attending your wedding.  Please do not stress out over all your guests - they will have a great time at either resort  ....if not the The Royal - simply go next door to the Caribecheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
