Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

Recommended Posts

I had 5 bridesmaids and I paid for their dresses. It was from Forever 21 so it didn't cost much at all. It was the exact colour of our wedding - magenta, so it was perfect. My mom sewed thick ivory satin sashes right underneath the bust. They looked great! Didn't want to spend so much on BM dresses that they may not wear again.

Was it an eBay store? I'm curious to know where it was you got them from. $260 is totally within my price range! :)

I obviously missed a trick because according to my sister and everyone else, getting the bridesmaids to pay for their dresses is very common. I'm quite lucky because my mum has made my dresses - but I'm paying for the material.

I would just play it like your sad and concerned and not angry to draw her out.."I havn't heard from you. I'm worried if everything is ok, I've been busy working on projects, like the bridesmaids gifts and i just wanted to know if you were still coming so we can plan what were going to do when we arrive" It might help

Well I know she isnt coming to the wedding at this point and I am just going to keep her BM gift that I also bought before she and another BM canceled. The other BM has been slightly more supportive but didnt come to my shower and didnt even call me the day of the shower. It is amazing how much you learn who are your true friends when planning a wedding. It has kind of shocked me how non-chalant some of my girl friends have been, basically acting like the shower, bachelorette, and wedding are no bigger than canceling a coffee date or dinner.

It's also especially rough when someone says they cant afford to come to your wedding, then they invite you to theirs fully expecting you to be there, while at the same time announcing on their Facebook that fantastic vacation they just booked. My fiance says I shouldnt take it personally, but it's kinda hard not to

I've been on the fence about buying my bridesmaid dresses or not. When I asked all my attendants to be my BM, they knew I was having a DW to begin with, so I feel that they have already committed to the expense of traveling, but by accepting to be my BM they also commit to any additional costs that comes with that title. They certainly had the option to say no and just come as a guest. All my ladies have an important role in my life and feel that paying 50-100 for a dress isn't too much to ask of a BM. I am also letting them pick the style of dress- I'm just telling them the color, material and length. I will be getting each of them pretty wonderful attendant gifts which I have already been brainstorming ideas for.

I have 3 bridesmaids and they are all paying for their dresses, it wasnt even really a question, i guess because some of them are married or have been bridesmaids before and for all those weddings bridesmaids bought their own. I do want to get them a really nice gift though, just unsure as to what right now

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
