Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

Recommended Posts

We are paying for the BM dresses which are $125 each and for the guys outfits which were even more! lol and we are still buying them a gift. but the girls, i'm going to let pay for their own hair and make up since i'm not even getting mine done by a pro.

I just hate to make them pay almost 2k for the trip and then even more on top.

I will be honest that I didn't read through all 13 pages so I don't know if this has been said - but ettiquite states that for a DW, the bride and groom should pay for their wedding party's attire since they are already paying to travel to the wedding. However, that being said, that is definitely not in the cards for a lot of brides (myself being one of them!). I ultimately would have LOVED to cover their dresses, but with 6 bridesmaids, that was out of my budget. We found some cute sundresses at Victoria's Secret that are the perfect color and totally fit the atmosphere of a beach wedding - for $29! I figured that keeping the costs low would be appreciated :)

We are paying for the BM dresses, flower girl dress and GM attire. We only have 3 attendants each, so it's not too terribly much. Though we have yet to pick out the dresses and such, I think I'm going to cap the budget at $150 for the dresses.

Guys are just wearing khaki pants and white shirts.

We are actually paying for our entire wedding party's attire just out of courtesy because everyone has to travel to come to our wedding! and that were NOT paying for, lol. We are paying for alterations too and we also got them all gifts! the girls dresses are $217 a piece and so far all we have are the guys shirts and they're from tommy bahama so unfortunatly they are $100 a shirt!! not my doing, the fiance wanted the guys to have matching shirts as him. but in a way i almost want to keep all the guys shirts when they're done with them cuz thats alot of money on a shirt that they're probably gonna throw in their closet and never wear again.. but then again.. what would we do with all those shirts haha! i really dont think there's a proper way to do it, every wedding differs. whatever way you chose, is right!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
