I still don't know if I'll pay for the dresses or not, but I will definitely have them wear little black dresses that they will be able to wear again.  I think that's a nice gesture so its not a dress they wear only for the wedding

Paying for the bridesmaids' dress has been a perennial problem for brides to be.  It actually depends which type of theme you hold for the wedding.  If you put the theme ala- sex and the city, then you do not have to pay for their dresses as they can go freestyle.  You can as well settle that you are going to shoulder the ones for the maid of honor and pay just some part of the others.  It will ultimately be up to you.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am paying for all 6 of my BM's dresses (ouch on the wallet) BUT i figure, as many have mentioned, it's the least I can do since they are paying for flights to our wedding in the Riviera Maya!

I have a question for those that are paying for dresses - are you asking that their hair be done/up? If so, are you covering the cost or asking them to? I'm not sure the proper etiquette on this....we are paying for 3 nights of their stay plus dresses, so even though they are paying for pricey flights, I'm not sure I can swing the cost of their hair too....but I'd like it up...ahhhhh going crazy over this! lol...any help would be appreciated :)

Hi ladies,

I paid for (they were ordered and received) for 6 BM's dresses and will pay for my flower girls as well.  FI will pay for the GM suits and ties this is our way of saying "thank you for traveling for our wedding."  With that said, I am not requiring their hair to be done in a certain fashion however; I did ask that since they are wearing convertible dresses that the hairstyle would compliment the dress.  Also, I gave them the option of having their make-up done by the artist that will come on site, to do their own or to go to the spa.  Most will have theirs done by Norma Perez-Cancun and this will be at their own cost.

As much as I would like to pay for everything, this would equate to having a wedding just as costly as staying home.  And we don't want to negate the main reason that we chose a destination wedding.

I'm of the same opinion. I too only have three bridesmaids, and since I'm asking them to pay to attend a DW, the least I could do is pay for the dresses.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
