El Dorado Royale Wedding Review May 2007

Recommended Posts

We have just celebrated our daughters wedding at El Dorado Royale on May 26. We had 72 guests, all stayed at the resort and for the most part it was wonderful.

We used Tammy (gee does she have something to do with this site??) at Wright Travel to work with the resort on room blocks, transportation, collecting everyones money and then mailing all of the travel documents. No small task and it went beautifully. Tammy@wrighttravelagency.com

The resort had many amenities we wanted, a gorgeous chapel, venues big enough for our guests, and nice rooms at an affordable rate. For the most part EDR did not disappoint. The welcoming dinner, wedding, reception were perfect, great food, service, flowers were awesome and were the only decoration we used. The venues were so pretty that just flowers were all the addition we needed.

Some things did not go well and came down to the usual, communication. Not between us and them but between departments within EDR. They are working these kinks out. Don't get me wrong it was irritating to have to sit with them for 3 hours upon arrival to go over everything we already had in a signed contract but worth it when it all eventually worked out. Yes, the bride and groom not getting their moonlight beach dinner was unacceptable but again, they stayed focused on the big day and it was great.

Elizabeth Medina was the photographer. She stayed at the resort with her assistant for two nights. She photographed the welcome dinner and the wedding as part of her 8 hour package. She also took pictures as the bride and bridesmaids were dressing. Elizabeth was fantastic. She is kind, helpful, efficient. About her pictures, can't tell you yet because we won't get them for a couple of weeks.

I recall that one of the posts mentioned that the EDR was quiet at night. Many guests did not have a problem hanging at the bars until 1 or 2. It was really fun, plenty for everyone to do, eat, drink. The all-inclusive was wonderful as no one had to reach for their wallets.

This forum was so helpful as we began to plan in December that I hope this posting is helpful to someone else. If you have any questions I will be watching the forum for a few weeks to answer them, or send them privately.

(the bride and groom honeymooned at Excellence resort, they loved it)

I'm glad the wedding went well. Thanks for the review!!! :) I love the El Dorado Royale. And yes, Tammy is the host of this forum (or were you just being sarcastic?! lol) and Elizabeth is a member on this forum and has fantastic work!!

Did the bride and groom stay in the casitas? Do they have anything to add about that? I have never seen the casitas, but they sound beautiful!! Quite worth the upgrade from what I can hear!

Well, maybe you could post some pictures when you get them back in a few weeks? That'd be great! :)

courtney, FI & I are staying in the casitas for our honeymoon, so I'll be sure to post all the dirt on the casitas when we get back, if no one else stays there before us! That was our big splurge of the wedding, Steve wanted the lazy river right on our doorstep, lol! I can't wait!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
