I was wondering if anyone had any pros or cons between the ROR and Sunset Grande as far as the wedding as well as the rooms/food/service. I'm planning on mine at the ROR in April 2011 but I'm starting to have doubts. One thing I keep reading over and over is that it's not easy to get in touch with the wedding coordinators, the beds are hard, pillows are terrible and there are problems with items disappearing from rooms. It's starting to make me re-think my decision.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know my experince, doesn't mean anything.

I booked my wedding here at first. I was so excited to be going to Jamaica, especially for my wedding. I put my deposit and had constant contact with the WC, however whenever I'd ask a question I'd get a reply back more confused then when I sent the question in the first place. I was willing to let it go,just wait to meet her to arrange everything (I though it was a good reason to have a DW, not to plan much)
But I kept reading all the reviews trip advisor and any other web site that has reviews and they were 90% bad .. I was will to take a lot of it with a grain of salt until I read a new review. A couple had gone there for their wedding. a group of 6 or 8. All of them except for 2 people got food posioning. Pictures of them hoocked up to I.V's in their hotel room. They were so sick, they didn't even feel well enough to want to get married. It was a trip from hell they said. I cancel my wedding right away (I was able to get my deposit back!!)
I wil not allow this to stop me from visiting a SJG resort in Negrill tho!! excited for that.. hopefully our first year of marriage.
Good luck with you. hope you find the perfect resort for your wedding.

We went to Riu Ochos Rios in Sept 09 for a friends wedding.  The resort is amazing, food is great, entertainment is excellent and we were never bored.

The bad reviews you read are probably from people who are very picky.  Our room was perfect, clean, room service everyday and we have ZERO complaints from our 6 day stay there. We'd go back in a flash.

You'll love it.  Our friends wedding was at the beach gazebo. It was very nice, there are people watching from a good distance away but everyone respected the privacy of the event.

They had a poolside reception dinner which was great.

Just wondering for all the brides that have gotten married at Sunset Jamaica Grande, has anyone used the on-site hairdresser? Just wondering if I should book with them or if I should try and do my own hair for the wedding? Wanted to know how your hair turned out and if they were available to do many different styles?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
