If you have an outside photog they will charge you $200 for the day pass and you can't allow them in your room. My daughter is working on the review as I feel it would be fair for her to give her review as the bride rather than me being the mothe of the bride. The wedding was beautiful and she had a good weather. I loved Negril and can't wait to go back!
Sorry meant to type free package at RIU Tropical Bay and I think ROR. I have the attachements I can share with you for 2010.

Beachymombride, I can't wait for the review. I am getting married there next month and can't wait. Also there is not a free package at the Riu Negril only Riu Tropical Bay. Yes I was just informed that no outside photographers are allowed in the rooms, but If the photographer is not allowed in the rooms, how do you get pictures while you are getting dressed and doing make up? Did your daughter have video also? If so how was this done if no one is allowed in the rooms?

This is the first I've heard of an outside photographer not being allowed in our rooms. Hmm...not sure what I'll do about that. We have someone coming down for us. Maybe I'll just say she's a friend who's taking pictures and is a guest at the wedding. Just won't mention the word photographer. We'll see what happens.

I'll definitely have to look in to the free wedding package. The WC at the head office told me I could so I will clarify that with Dionne at the Riu Negril.

Thanks for the info ladies...definitely good to be prepared!

I've emailed Dionne at Riu Negril and the free package is available for 2011. From looking on the website, the free package is not available in 2010. For whatever reason, it's available next year. I've also reserved the steakhouse and entertainment equipment for my private reception.

OH that is great they are starting to offer the free package, too bad it wasn't for 2010. As far as the photographer not being allowed in the rooms, you might want to clarify that with Dionne, cause I just got the email this week stating no outsider vendors are allowed in the rooms, this is hotel policy.

I think that only applies if they're not a guest at the resort, if they're just on a day pass. If they're a guest then they'd be allowed and you don't have to pay the extra fee.

hello sorry for the delay getting the review. My daughter has been so busy she said she will really try to write the review this weekend. I told her you guys would like to hear about her experience. I could write a review but I think it would be better coming from the brides perspective.

Here is the deal if you have someone as a guest staying at the resort this person is a family friend taking pictures and not an outside vendor so you should be able to take those key pictures. I would just recommend having them leave before Dion gets to the room because she really prompt when she comes to get you. Also, if you are getting married outside I would recommend building three as it is right where they have the ceromony. Now if you have an outside photog and you tell Dionne she will want his/her name and will charge $200 vendor day pass fee vs. if you have a friend wink.gif wink wink that is coming to the vendor and happens to bring their camera as a good friend would do this fee is less I think it is $90 again have them get out of the way before Dionne comes to pick you up if she ask it is just a family friend. We had to pay $200 vendor day pass fee which was not cool and I think very expensive but at least they still let outside photogs come to resort were some resorts will not allow an outside photog. We just took our own pictures of my daughter getting married we were bummed by this but they day did turn out to be beautiful so my daughter did not get hung up on that. Also, the photog did not want to break any rules so he did not come to the room. She hired G.B. from SunGold and he was so nice she said she loved him. When she writes her review I will post our personal pictures and then will post the professional pictures. Also, we had a friend video tape the ceromony and she was so happy she did as she looked at at least 30 times lol. I highly recommend that you have a family friend video tape the ceromony you wont regret it. Just make sure they are good at this. She used the flip camera and our friend was out of the way. More to come from my daughter's review. We believe in paying it forward as this site was so helpful in our planning.

Sorry typing so fast I meant to type if you have a friend that happens to be a photog and is attending the cermoney and happens to bring a camera this would be a day pass in it should be $90. All you have to do is tell the front desk his/her name. Tell Dionne that you don't have a professional photog I think this will work more for an outside Jamaica vendor double check with the person taking the pictures as she may know a lot of the outside photog.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
