Hi There!

We are thinking of doing all our Save the Date / Invitations, etc. with email & a customized website (my finance is a designer). This is simply because we want to stay as GREEN as possible as well as being on a fairly tight budget... I've never been one to keep a wedding invitation that I've had, and certainly have no expectation that someone else keep mine... and don't want to be wasteful... especially during these "economic times".

My question - is this completely tacky? Or in this day and age do you think it's acceptable? Would love to hear some feedback!

Thank you so much... I also really love the boarding pass or passport ideas that many of you have done... just wondering about our initial idea of doing it all online!

I appreciate it!

Jenna

I think it is a great idea. So many rules with invites, why not be different. Green is the new way. we are doing our rsvp's electroniclly. Going gree is great and it also saves postage and $$$$. Just make sure to print some on paper for those elders that don't have the tecnology. =)

I posted a thread about this a week or so ago. I'm doing a website and word of mouth only and I don't think it's tacky. The consensus I got was that it's your wedding do what you want!

I personally much prefer to get stuff electronically rather than in the mail. I throw mail away, I don't throw my emails away.

I personally think it's an awesome idea!! I know how much I spent in just postage alone to send out my Save the Dates, and I only made up and sent out 49....

Green is the way to go, and I am so for that! I say go for it.

But again like other said, you may have to print up a couple 'std/invites' for those who don't have access to a computer/technology etc.

I do not think it's tacky at all! That being said, I agree with the others that not a lot of people are very technically literate or are more traditional and may be offended by not getting a 'formal paper' invitation. Absolutely, check with your family to make sure that is not the case ... and if it is and you still want to go green; make the paper invitations as green as you possibly can by using friendly paper and inks.

Hi!

We just did this.... we invited over 50 people to our Jamaica wedding via e-mail & our wedding website. We got A LOT of positive comments... however, we did run into a "handful" of people who did not have e-mail. Grandmothers, old family friends... so I am printing my own invites now for them. I am making 20. Now that I am making these, my family is saying they would each like one for a "keepsake". So I may make a few more...

Good luck!!

I love the idea of sending electronic invites and STD. I do like the idea however of sending paper invites maybe to your older relatives who prefer the paper invite. Michaels has the "Brides" collection of invites which are beautiful and come in 20 or 30 and with a 50% off coupon you end up paying $15+/- for your invites and you get to print them yourself.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
