In my Yahoo News today, I saw an article on the fees airlines are charging to check in bags when flying out from the U.S.

Wanted to pass it along in case it could be of assistance to any of the BDW members.

I hate this fee! Everytime I think I have found the best price I have to recalculate baggage fees in order to see if its worth it!!!

Now I'm glad I booked on Mexicana - I can still check two bags for free! I think these fees are just outrageous!!

I think it all just really depends on where you are going. If I fly with AA from Houston to D.R. I have no baggage fees. https://www.aa.com/a....horEvent=false

It siad these were domestic except for Delta, where it was specifically mentioning international. Does anyone know the international rates of these airlines?

Airline fees like baggage charges are hassle. According to a report, they are not likely disappearing, as it is harder for airlines to make a living these days. The reason for airline fees is that air travel is not a very profitable business. Fuel costs and continually fluctuating levels of travel make it difficult to consistently make enough to cover the bottom line.

Luckily, active duty military usually doesn't have to pay the fees. Will save us some cash for sure!!
