We're getting married at the Majestic Elegance Resort in Punta Cana, but definitely the RIU palace was a very close second. It came down to budget for us and the Elegance was more economical. One of my coworkers was married at the RIU palace, and has only fabulous things to say about it. The nice thing about the RIU is that I think your guests could stay at one of the other RIU resorts near the palace (like the Bambu), if they want to save money.

Good luck!
Tara,

We are actually considering the Majestic Elagence, do you have and pricing info on the wedding packages?

Jenn&Kraig- I have just confirmed my wedding date with the coordinators so far, so I don't have much info. on the costs associated with the reception, photographer, etc.

In regards to mimosa's question...no I thought the same that since its all inclusive its included in the dinner but nope..the minute anyone hears wedding $$ are added on. depending on the hotel they charge up to $100 extra pp. As for deciding which hotel its so hard bcuz all you have are pictures from the internet. And then people give you their suggestions which confuses you more.I was soooo confused I had like 20 websites minimzed comparing pictures and decided the best way to tell is just to go there..I mean its an expense to go for a week but were making a vaca out of it and it will spare me hours of sitting by the computer and going blind. Im going in 2 weeks to see Riu palace and a few others..all I can say is I can let you know which i think is the nicest..but be careful when you reading the packages because it seems cheap because they offer nothing. I heard it should come to like 30k for the whole wedding weekend.

And you should opt for the symbolic ceremony because I didn't know but if you want a legal ceremony there you have to bring all your documents birth certificate who knows what then have it translated into spanish so besides it being another expense its a headache that I cant even imagine..I don't even know where anything is. But if you go to cityhall in your town and then they just do a symbolic one which looks real to your guests but spares you a headache. Just my 2 cents..not that you asked for them lol

Elegance is the newer section of the resort. A few more restaurants, pools, and the biggest difference is the adults-only section that is available over there.

Thank you! do you know if you can go to both? Like if you stayed at the colonial, could you go to the part of the elegance, since they are sister hotels? Or can only the elegance go to the colonial (since the elegance seems to be the more expensive)?>

Thanks! I actually booked for July 11, 2010 (although I need to change it to July 17) at the Grand Palladium Bavaro...I think that is the same resort you are referring to. It seems like a great deal because stay at one hotel play at all 3 and they have nice wedding packages. They also include dinner at a choice of 2 different restaurants. Basically seems like they will be able to offer what I am hoping for at a reasonable cost. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
