I so know how you feel Josie... My FI and I just bought our first place that we're actually going to move into together (finally me moving out of my parents house at 26 years of age!!!)... between having to make property taxes, fixing up the place, paying tuition for grad school, needing new appliances *and* attempting to save for a wedding I am feeling flat broke :P

I feel your pain! Funny, how it may take forever to save but it takes just a few transactions to wonder where the funds went. Uuurrrggg!

I had to postone my wedding for a year since we basically used most of our savings buying our house just before we got engaged and we needed to recover financially so we have been engaged for 18 months and it will be two and a half year when we get married. We refuse to get married on credit. smile36.gif

First of all, saving 12K is an amazing accomplishment and you should feel AWESOME that you did that...pat pat pat patting you on the back! Most people can't save 12 cents these days and are going into debt up to their eyeballs.

Like Erin said, it's one of the hardest things about being a grown up to watch the money we save get spent....but you have a home now to start your new life with FI and you will hopefully have a great time at the weddings and bachelorette parties you're going to.

Enjoy the times that you are having - you can always make more money, but you can't get the time back!

Josie~that is so great that you saved up all that $$ for the house. That is what FI and I plan on doing when I start my teaching job this August. I have seen the pics of your house and it is GORGEOUS so all that hard earned $ paid off. Also, don't worry about all the things coming up. You will be just fine. Maybe cut back on some unnecessary stuff (out to eat, gym memberships, etc-I am just using myself as an example wink.gif ) Have a great time at all your events. Also, I think the kegerator was worth it-I have seen one and those are so cool, plus your FI hearts it! XOXO Hang in there

I'm with the other gals; good on you for being able to save that much to begin with! Be proud! It's not as if you just up and lost your mind on some random spending spree....life happened and is sucking up your fundage.

The good thing is that you are obviously disciplined when you need to be. You can make things work out and you'll budget accordingly I'm sure. Keep the faith!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
