Official Wedding Documenation

Well ladies I think I am going to cry. Our marriage certificate arrived today (well DH had to go pick it up as they kept delivering it to the wrong address, even though I called 3 times to advise that we moved) and my name is spelled WRONG!!!! I have no idea how long it will take to issue a new one - I'm guessing 4 months again. This was the last thing I was waiting for and was so excited to change my name in the next week. I recommend ANYONE getting married in Cuba to make it legal before you leave. Maybe this is a one-off, but it's too much.

Aww, Sara I'm so, so sorry to hear about the name issue! WTF!? That's crazy, they pour over the passports before the notary gets the papers-- how is it possible it was spelt wrong. (I would mention this to your WC or the resort and see if there is anything that they can do, or if they can contact the notary-- I assume they will do something to make sure you go away happy)

Good Luck! Keep us updated. smile03.gifHang in there girl, you'll get your name soon.

Do any of you ladies know of an efficient and inexpensive way for me to send back my marriage certificate to Cuba? My WC said to send it back to be fixed -- the good news is, I have been able to change my name here at home -- nobody seems to look at the certificate once I tell them it is from Cuba...

I think we should send it back to be corrected, however, we took the certificate to DHL last night and they told us it would cost $143.00 to send it back to Holguin....yikes!! I don't believe a company like Fed-Ex or UPS would send anything to Cuba as I believe they are Americanhuh.gif

I'm wondering if Canada Post would work. I would just hate for it to get lost.

DHL is your best bet... But the better bet is to either bring it there yourself, or find someone going there to take it with them. I send a lot of stuff to my Cuban friends using family and friends as "mules"... I would trust this FAR more than sending with DHL. You'd be surprised at how many people head to Holguin for vacations, and dropping something at the resort with your WC wouldn't be a big deal.

If I was planning a trip there... I'd do it for you!

Oh thanks! I'm going to discuss with DH and perhaps ask one of the brides headed to PP if they would mind...I was wondering why my WC said "if you know someone coming to the resort, send the certificate along with them" - for $143.00 charge from DHL, it does seem easier/cheaper to have someone else drop it off personally.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
