Wow!! I just found this thread!! Its fab!!!

I'm just newish, to the Military life and its been hard..My FI went to basic training in Oct 08, its the first time we've ever been away from each other (other then the one week I went to the Dominican with my Fam) And he's been gone sence. So in the last 10 months I've seen him for 2 weeks at Xmas, 2 weeks in May and 1 week in July. Its been really tough, But its what's best for us and what he really enjoys doing. And we have a new found appreciation for each other :)

Nice to see I'm not the only one out there who more than likely just crys no reason and feels better afterward :)

Hi ladies, my FI is in the military and we've been engaged for a little over a year. He was deployed to Iraq for 14 months back in 07/08 and it was so hard worrying about him all the time and missing him. When he came home last July he wasted no time asking me to marry him lol. We got engaged in August and have been lucky enough to be able to see each other alomst every month but I still miss him everyday. It's been worth it though and he's getting out of the military this week. He'll finally be home and I can drive him crazy with all my wedding plans lol.

You're all very tough women, I don't know if I could have handled being apart for much longer especially if he would have decided to stay in.

Yes , Jen - AMAZING pics! You guys look ssoo happy!!!!!

So, DH just told me he has a 50/50 chance of having his August 2010 deployment pushed up to January 2010.

I hope and pray that doesn't happen ... but nothing I can do about it ... and with everything going on over there now, it's anyone's guess what decisions Obama will decide on...

Hi ladies, my FI is former military but could possibly be going back in. We met through mutual friends while FI still had about 1 year left in the service, we started talking on the phone and over the internet since he was stationed in Savannah, Ga. So on a whim I decided I couldn't wait till my best friends wedding to meet him and spent an ungodly amount of $$ to buy a last minute ticket down to Savannah to see him two weeks before he would be up in chicago. And it was worth every penny, I finally got to kiss the man I had been falling in love with over the phone. So then I spent every two weeks flying down to Savannah to see him and tiem spent with him was never enough. He was supposed to get out in Feb. 07 but they had a stoploss at the beginning of the month and it looked like he was going to be stuck there and redeployed in Aug 07. Which caused my world into a whirlwind, bc either way one of us was going to move and it was looking more and more like me. By some miracle the general decided he didn't need all the aviation guys and let a group of 5 of them get out, luckily one of them was my FI. He says he thinks his old platoon sgt., who had moved up the ranks and was a good friend had something to do with him getting out and I will thank that man for the rest of my life. My FI moved up to Chicago the next week and has been here ever since. But he is now going back to school and will be applying to medical school in the spring. And one of the medical schools he is looking at is the Armed Services one and also looking at the option of going where he wants but joining the Air Force to get school paid for. Which I am so proud of him to have served his country and to want to do it again, but part of me wants him not to, I want him here and to never be deployed. Am I being to selfish?
