I am so glad I found this thread! My FI is in the Marines and he loves it.... but I tell you it is soo hard. He's been deployed to Iraq twice and he's gone everywhere, phillipines, kuwait, japan etc. and early next year he may be off to Afghanistan. And I can honestly say that there's no words to prepare you for when they leave and it gets harder everytime (at least it is for me). The best thing to do is just stay busy. When he's away I write down stupid funny things that happen and put them together for my weekly letter to him. If you ladies ever want to talk or nething you can ALWAYS pm me! Stay strong!

With that being said... are your FI wearing the military dress uniform at the wedding??

My FI had planned to wear his mess dress in the wedding, but he decided after looking at tuxes for the other guys in the party that he liked the tux better, so that is what he is going to wear now.

I absolutely melt when my FI is in his dress blue uniform and I really want him to wear it but he's also undecided because the groomsmen will be wearing a white shirt and kahki or dark pants but he looks soooo goood in his uniform!!!!! But I think if the groomsen throw on a tie or something it'll look fine!!.

Oh yeaa and ANOTHER issue is his shoes... everyone will be wearing flip flops since its in the sand but he says if he wears his uniform he HAS to wear his shiny black shoes which he thinks will look retarded in the sand... What do you thinK?

I just wanna ease his mind and say people do it all the time!!! but i dunno how true that is lol

Wearing the shoes is just something he'll have to do if he wants to wear his uniform! Will your reception be on the beach as well, or will it be out of the sand? If out of the sand, just remind him that he'll only have his shoes on in the sand for a few minutes!

Hey Ladies! I'm so happy I found this thread! My husband and I have been married for a year, but we never got a big wedding because we got married right before he deployed. Now he's back and we're planning our wedding for next November when he separates from the Military. It can not come fast enough because he just got transferred to the middle of nowhere haha and it sucks here. Anyone else have a similar situation?

How exciting that he'll be home soon Jaime! Dan will leave soon on another deployment. Luckily he will only be gone for 3 months. I'm always so worried they will extend it though and he will miss our wedding! Sucks having to plan stuff with so much uncertainty.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
