I don't think you need to send invitations either. Everyone who is coming already knows all the details! Plus if you ordered invites they normally come in increments of 25 so you would have a ton extra.

Thank you all so much for the support. I feel so much better about it all! I don't think we're going to do invitations!

We are going to do an AHR, but not at home, but rather my parents home. I'm from Tennessee and live in NYC. Part of what turned us off from having a wedding here in the states is the insane cost of a wedding in NYC, and most of my family probably couldn't afford the hotels here anyway! We even started planning, got about $20k in and I freaked out and decided I couldn't do it, that it wasn't me and didn't feel right. So we scrapped it all and started from scratch.

I'm not a wedding person, and I come from a long line of not wedding people. Everyone in my family for three generations went to the court house, that's just how it's done in rural Tennessee. My financee, however, is from a very formal New England family, and I think they're somewhat appalled at the whole destination wedding idea, although to their credit, they haven't said as much to me.

Sorry, I know this is rambling. It's just amazing to finally find a group of down to earth normal people. You'd be surprised how hard that is here in NYC!

We did not do invites; we annouced to our closet family & friends at our x-mas celebrations that we were going to be having a destination wedding & would love for any & all who could come to attend. We then gave everyone the pertient info & left it at that. Once people were booked they called us & we added them to the "RSVP" list. Easy as that, no invites, no problems :) Destination weddings, IMO, are suppose to be easy breezy, so that's why we did our invites the way we did. Good luck & do what you want, it's your wedding after all

I felt the same way as you about my wedding. We had 16 other people there with us (all family) and we did not send out formal invites or STDs. We basically just did word of mouth and told our parents to pass on to our family and friends that anyone who wished to attend could do so and I would forward the booking information their way. Due to the cost of attending a DW, most people did not express an interest...which was just fine with me! lol I say do whatever you're most comfortable with...anything goes with a DW, especially your own. Good luck! :)

I did send them out and we're only having 10 people. My reason was so that my Mom could have one, she loves cute keep sakes. I would do whatever makes you happy and has the least amount of stress for you. This is your day!

I'm not doing them either... I'm creating a wedding website where everyone can get the required information, but I don't think I'll be sending anything paper out. That just suits our personalities best and I don't think anyone we're inviting would care for an invitation that they'll just throw out.
I considered making a few for the older folks though... that's a definite DIY project since there's only about 1-2 people that would keep an invitation as a keepsake.
