wedding cakes

Recommended Posts

I have been searching and searching for a baker who would make and deliver my wedding cake to RPTB. I found three and have spoken with each of them. I am waiting on prices for two of them. It takes a while to get a response from them. In the meantime, I decided to e-mail the WC (Keneika) to see if the resort had any "preferred cake vendors". It turns out RPTB does have a preferred cake vendor. The WC included pictures of cakes that this baker made before and they are beautiful cakes. She asked me to send her pictures, the flavor of the cake, etc. so that she can get a quote for me. Since I have very specific ideas and questions about my wedding cake I asked her if she could give me the contact information for the baker. I should get a response today. I'm not sure what the price will be, but I just thought it was great that the resort actually has a preferred vendor and it might be easier to go that way then having to search for bakers and await responses from them on quotes, etc.

So if anyone is looking to have their wedding cake made by someone outside of the resort, ask the WC at the resort if they have any preferred cake vendors because most likely they will and it might help out a bit especially with vendor fees and all.

Also...if anyone is looking at doing "mini cakes" for their wedding, the price is outrageous. I was looking to do mini cakes for each guest and having a one tier cake for cutting and display. Well I was just quoted $100 EACH for mini cakes!! I will have about 30 people so that would be $3000 for the mini cakes plus $240 for the 1 tier cake! That is insane. I was also quoted $300 for a 2 tier cake and I believe somewhere I saw a quote for a 3 tier cake for $300 including delivery fees. I didn't even pick a flavor or filling for the cake so I could only imagine how much extra that would cost.

Well I've been in contact with a couple vendors. Selena Wong is out of Kingston, so that is a no go because the delivery charge is $275. I'm still waiting for Shelia's Bakery to get back to me, she said they deliver to RPTB, but I'm not sure where she is located. The one that gave me the prices I listed is out of Montego Bay, but I don't know the actual name of the bakery since I was only provided with an e-mail to them. I don't know who the vendor is for RPTB as I am still waiting for a reply from the WC with the contact info.

I am going the fake route. The brides here have posted alot of fake bouquets and in their pictures you can not tell they are fake. Trust me I pulled all of their wedding pictures and looked at their bouquets. But I understand if you want the real deal, I know some brides have used Tai Flora Services Ltd. - Jamaica's Full Service Florists

You might want to do a search on her and check reviews. I will be using her for a chuppah.

I am also looking for a bakery in Ocho Rios. I received a quote from a baker suggested by ROR. The price for a traditional Jamaican rum cake is way too high - $500+!!!! My TA does not have information on a bakery. I am thinking of asking the locals or looking around Ochio Rios once I arrive. I found a place in NYC that will ship rum cakes, including the mini-cakes; however, it just seems silly to purchase a Jamaican rum cake in New York to carry to Jamaica. Please let me know if anyone finds a reasonable bakery in Ocho Rios. Good luck to everyone.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
