There are a lot of two star hotels in this area, and you'll notice that whenever you see pictures, it looks like most of the room is cut off, that's because most of them are just big enough to fit the bed and a desk.

BTW, Paris has "museum cards" where you can pay one fee, and have a card for multiple days that gets you into most of the major museums and I believe you bypass the line.
Thank you!!! I think we will only do the Louvre since we have 2.5 days in Paris only , we are thinking the basics: Louvre , Eiffel, Champs, Arc, Sacre and do some walking tour ...

Any other suggestion for this little amount of time in Paris?

I planned a 16 day trip to Europe by myself before going into the military, flew from Detroit to NYC to London and got to London. I called my parents to let them know I was okay. My dad told me my grandpa went into the hospital and was getting surgery so I flew back and canceled everything. My grandpa is fine and the money was all spent on my return flight.

I was going to do a day in London, 1 in Paris, then head to Greece (Athens, Santorini and Mykonos) and then to Italy (Rome & Vatican City, Milan, Venice, Pompeii).
Oh Crystal that is sad, but you will do it very soon, you will see!!!!

Last time I was in Paris, we stayed here:
Hotel Valadon Paris - between rue cler market and eiffel tower !
It was charming, relatively inexpensive, and close to the Rue Cler, which is a cute little shopping street with little bistros, fruit stands, it is close to the Invalides, Eiffel Tower, walking distance to a lot of great stuff. In the 7th Arr. It's not five-star, but it's no-frills and charming.

Another cute location is Montmartre by the Sacre Coeur, fantastic views and windy, hilly streets. I have stayed there, but have forgotten the hotel. If you don't stay here, try go at sunset for an amazing romantic view of the city.

I didn't like where we stayed in Rome the last time we were there, next time I would like to stay in Travestere, which is across the river and away from everything, but it's romantic and quiet. But if you want to stay in the midst of it all, I think the Piazza Navona area is central to everything, but you pretty much walk everywhere. The metro in Rome is not nearly as comprehensive as it is in Paris, but with so much to look at, who cares if you have to walk?

Go on tripadvisor.com to check out ratings, that is my bible when I'm planning a trip! Have fun, and if you have room in your suitcase, let me know if I can sneak in! hahaha

PS. Don't lose track of your wallet or purse in either of these cities. I have personally seen a mugging in Paris (at dusk), and someone try to pickpocket someone in Rome (in broad daylight -- it was a kid). Not to scare you b/c these places are perfectly safe, but just be aware of your surroundings and your belongings.
Thank you for all your suggestions, I have reviewed the Valadon, was worried about being only 2* but looking your comments and also Janet's I think is one good choice on the list now....

If you're planning on taking the RER between Charles De Gaulle and your hotel, be aware that many stations will not have elevators and you'll have to carry your bags up the stairs.

2.5 Days is enough to see many things. Pay attention to opening and closing hours to maximize what you can see, the Louvre is until 10pm two nights a week. This is the list of participating museums for the Paris Museum Pass. If it's busy season it could probably save you a lot of time.

There are also day passes you can buy for a boat transit system that stops near most of the major attractions. Of if you just want to go for a ride, or lunch/dinner cruise on a boat you can take the bateaux-mouches.
