Hola,

we are planning to fly out from PVR to Paris, stay a few days there, then fly to Rome and take a 10 Night Cruise (Celebrity Solstice) going to Sicily, Athens, Mykonos, Ephesus, Rhodes, Santorini and Naples, then staying for 4 days at Rome and coming back to Paris to flight to Monterrey....

I would love to hear suggestions for Hotels at Paris and Rome, we have been looking for options but anytime our TA send some either are excessively expensive or not the kind of hotel we would like to stay. We are not to picky but we would prefer a nice, clean and convenient and possibly romantic hotel that is close so we can tourist around... we have never been in to Europe so we are definitely need to be close in the city centers or near attractions.

I am open for all your suggestions for the hotels as wells as excursions or tours to take during the cruise.... popcorn.gif

Thanks!!!

Hi, If you are looking to get a great deal on price, try PriceLine for you hotels in both location and Bid your own price. We are going to be in Paris for our wedding and got a 4 star hotel at Hotel Concorde La Fayette for $150 per night. Our friends bid last week and got that same hotel for $120 a night. It has a train that goes straight to the airport so it is very convenient and is near the Arc du Triomphe and Champs Elysees. We have not stayed there yet though.

Our other friends used Priceline for their hotel stay in Rome before their cruise and also got a 4 or 5 star hotel, the Intercontinental Hotel. They also have not stayed there yet but Tripadvisor gave fabulous reviews of it. Not sure how much they paid but I think it was around $150-200 per night. Hope that helps.

In Paris I would try to stay along the river if possible, 1st-8th arrondissement, you can walk to a lot of the sites from there. If you are looking for a specific type of area, nightlife, artsy, etc, you can look up the differences between the districts. There are a lot of two star hotels in this area, and you'll notice that whenever you see pictures, it looks like most of the room is cut off, that's because most of them are just big enough to fit the bed and a desk.

BTW, Paris has "museum cards" where you can pay one fee, and have a card for multiple days that gets you into most of the major museums and I believe you bypass the line.

They are on my list of places to go before I die.

I planned a 16 day trip to Europe by myself before going into the military, flew from Detroit to NYC to London and got to London. I called my parents to let them know I was okay. My dad told me my grandpa went into the hospital and was getting surgery so I flew back and canceled everything. My grandpa is fine and the money was all spent on my return flight.

I was going to do a day in London, 1 in Paris, then head to Greece (Athens, Santorini and Mykonos) and then to Italy (Rome & Vatican City, Milan, Venice, Pompeii).

You are so lucky! Your itinerary sounds amazing -- that is a trip to look forward to! Here are some of my suggestions for Paris / Rome:

Last time I was in Paris, we stayed here:

Hotel Valadon Paris - between rue cler market and eiffel tower !

It was charming, relatively inexpensive, and close to the Rue Cler, which is a cute little shopping street with little bistros, fruit stands, it is close to the Invalides, Eiffel Tower, walking distance to a lot of great stuff. In the 7th Arr. It's not five-star, but it's no-frills and charming.

Another cute location is Montmartre by the Sacre Coeur, fantastic views and windy, hilly streets. I have stayed there, but have forgotten the hotel. If you don't stay here, try go at sunset for an amazing romantic view of the city.

I didn't like where we stayed in Rome the last time we were there, next time I would like to stay in Travestere, which is across the river and away from everything, but it's romantic and quiet. But if you want to stay in the midst of it all, I think the Piazza Navona area is central to everything, but you pretty much walk everywhere. The metro in Rome is not nearly as comprehensive as it is in Paris, but with so much to look at, who cares if you have to walk?

Go on tripadvisor.com to check out ratings, that is my bible when I'm planning a trip! Have fun, and if you have room in your suitcase, let me know if I can sneak in! hahaha

PS. Don't lose track of your wallet or purse in either of these cities. I have personally seen a mugging in Paris (at dusk), and someone try to pickpocket someone in Rome (in broad daylight -- it was a kid). Not to scare you b/c these places are perfectly safe, but just be aware of your surroundings and your belongings.

Too funny -- we JUST got back from 2 nights at the Hotel Valadon. We loved it! Very small, wonderful owners, lovely area, good value in an expensive city. Would totally stay there again!

Your honeymoon sounds absolutely amazing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
