Group cruise activities besides the wedding?

Hello,

We are getting married on day 2 of a 5 day cruise, but feel like I should have something planned for the last day. Is anyone else planning a cocktail party or activity for any other day of the cruise?

I was thinking to slide thank you postcards under our guests doors on the last night of the cruise and ask them to join us for a "farewell" breakfast on the finally morning if they would like (more letting them know where we will be if they want to come).

Any other ideas? We live overseas, so this will be the last time we see most of them for months to a year.

Thanks,

Carla

We purposely didn't schedule any group activities besides a welcome cocktail party and then our wedding day activities. We emphasized this was a vacation for our guests and didn't want to compromise their time anymore than for our wedding day. People came together and did things as a group but at least it was still their vacation and up to them how they spent their time.

Carla, if you already have the tacky 80's sunglasses in the bag you could just attach a cute little card to them with ribbon that says "Farewell party 80's style on Saturday night." Or something to that effect. That'd be fun!

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like for whomever goes on the cruise to spend at least one day at a beach together...I'm calling it a wedding celebration.

I may take Carla's suggestion of doing a farewell breakfast and putting thank you cards under everyone's door.

I wanted to do a cocktail party on the 2nd day of the cruise since our wedding is on the 3rd day of an 8 day cruise. However the cocktail parties were booked so now we aren't really doing anything.

I love the idea of the farewell breakfast but I think I'd do it the day before the last day bc it's a sea day and the last day ppl will be busy with disembarking lol.

On my website (the attractions page if u wanna check it out) I did ask ppl if they want to do any shore excursions together. Also my family knows this great restaurant in Nassau. So what I'm going to eventually do is make a brochure (vista) with the weeks itinerary. It will have all the events for the wedding day (we have the wedding on the beach followed by the reception on the golf course then an island tour) plus any things for the other days such as everyone who's interested meet us at the rest in Nassua for dinner, farewell breakfast, bachelor and bachelorette parties in San Juan and maybe the one shore excursion if ppl seem interested.

Like someone said we want this to be a vacay for everyone so we don't want too much stuff booked/planned for them. But I also have a few friends that are coming alone so I want them to feel involved.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
