So to give you some help with deciding what might fit your group....

The Sands...no resorts on either side, nice stretch of beach, within walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants boutiques. One of the older resorts on island but just finished redoing the rooms this past year. Hemingways is a great little restaurant and you can have dinner on the beach.

Ocean Club...you have 2 resorts to choose from, ocean club and ocean club west. Ocean Club is across from the golf course and has Club Med on one side and the Tuscany on the other (after the Tuscany it is nothing). Ocean Club West is in between Seven Stars/and grace Bay Club and withing walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the new grace bay gourmet grocery store. Ocean club usually offers a dining plan to allow you to pay for some meals which is a nice option. Ocean Club West is the newer of the two resorts.

Royal West Indies...walking distance to a number of restaurants, further walk to shops. Great restaurant on site. Right next to club med. They do have nice deals going on right now and a beautiful gardens for photo opportunities (loads of flowers etc)

Grace Bay Club is a step higher in price and amenities. Centrally located for walking. Lovely restaurant on the Beach and some stunning pools, a great bar etc. If you go with GBC your guests also could stay at the Villa del Mar across the small access road...brand new, less costly and a short walk to the same beach you use. It's a nice option for a bride and groom who want to splurge but have a lesser cost option next door for guests. That has been a great option for many brides and grooms.

West Bay Club and Windsong are located further down the beach nearer to Turtle Cove. Both are new and located right near one of the few snorkeling areas you can access from the beach. If you stay there, you will need a car or taxi to do shopping and/or restaurants other than the resort options. You cannot walk to other restaurants or shopping from there (well you could but it would be a LONG walk)

You can check out our blogs (listed below) and do a search for the various resorts to see the locations. We have a new website and blog so check our old one as well for past wedding before june of 2009.

Hope that helps you out, let me know if you have any other questions (I've lived here for 15 years, and with an island that is only 22 miles long, you get to know everywhere pretty well LOL)

We are doing our wedding at The Somerset, haven't been there but I have friends who have and love it so much they return yearly. I don't visit to do a site inspection until April but perhaps Krys knows the property inside out :-) and can describe it. The Seven Stars is also a new resort and having been looking to drum up business in the wedding department. My friend who is a travel agent is very good friends with the property manager and he had initially tried to talk me into doing our wedding there. I was a bit put off since they are so new.

Sorry I only just saw this so I know it won't be of much help now but one of the things I did is I called American Airlines when organizing my wedding and requested a discount code. It takes 5 minutes and is done over the phone where they issue you a promo code to be used by anyone booking to go to the same destination. There is no mimimum or max number of travellers needed. You don't have to be leaving from the same airport and the block is usually done for travel a few days before and finishing a few days after your travel. For example my wedding is Nov. 13th my issue code can be used for travel between Nov. 8th to Nov. 20th to TC for all of my guests. The discount is only 5% discount but hey in this day and age any little bit helps. The only airlines I found servicing TC regularly were AA, US Airways, Bahamas Air and Delta has flights but only on Mondays! I hope this helps anyone else planning their wedding.

The Somerset is a beautiful property, I would say it is a bit higher in price range from the Sands and Ocean Club. You are right that Seven stars is trying to attract business as it is under a new management company, but we are finding most of the resorts willing to work to attract business, especially wedding business. You'll love the Somerset (and it's right next to the Palms spa which is really nice as well!!!)

Hi Bronze, from friends that travel to TC every year and have tried a host of activities and spas, she seems to prefer the Teona Spa (Villa Renaissance & Regent Grand) and Exhale Spa at Gansevoort. She usually stays at Somerset and the spa they recommend is Regent Palms or Spa Tropique (Regent Palms is next door and Spa Tropique will come on property to work with you), but she said her fav is definitely between Teona and Exhale. I asked her to choose but she said she simply couldn't they are both great. Since I am not having a bachelorette party I have been thinking about doing a spa day with my bridesmaids at Exhale.

Have you thought about heading down to do a site inspection? I am thinking of going in March. How about you? How is the planning coming along? Hope the info above helps.

For the Turks and Caicos, we don't have a "rainy season" We do get rain on occasion and usually one random week a year we may have more than one day of rain, but for the most part it tends to be sunny here. Any rain usually is short and followed by sunshine.

Our main tourist season is end of December- July, so that is when rates are higher. September is very quiet with a lot of resorts closing for a few weeks to the entire month. Late August/September/early October are the hottest/most humid months but also less expensive. For weddings, we see the most during late April/May and June, so if you are thinking about that time, you may want to book your vendors sooner rather than later.

The Turks and Caicos are very flat islands, and are limestone so we don't have the lush vegetation or mountains that you may see in Jamaica or St Lucia. However, the lack of rain and limestone base give it some of the most spectacular beaches in the world.

We don't get a lot of tourists compared to the rest of the Caribbean and don't have the huge choice of flights, but we are only over an hour by plane from Miami, 2 hours and 45 minutes from Charlotte and about the same from Atlanta. It makes for an easy journey and especially with the US Air and Delta flights, you are on island and at the hotel around lunch and leave after lunch with the scheduled flights. If you are having a destination wedding and guests are not taking a lot of time off it helps with there schedules.

We are on Daylight savings time so in the summer months you get a lot more daylight in the evening vs the winter if that is a consideration.

This is not a "party" island. It's a relax and make your own party island.

English is the native language and we use the US dollar for currency so it's like the US Virgins in that respect, you do need a passport to travel here.

Feel free to check our blog for photos around the island to see what it's like (and how nice it looks in photographs).

Hope that helps

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
